The State has removed the woman's full name and other personal details, including her address, e-mail address and children's names.

Yes! all afternoon i thought "that girl's face is just gonna split if she grins any wider". Eventually someone stepped in front of her - but it seemed to me that whoever she was - if she was part of the staff - she knew about this stuff and derived a great deal of satisfaction from his fall from grace.

Well, I have noticed this and I wonder, might there be something behind that? All those religious rightwingers falling like tin soldiers pushed over. On a Church in Memphis there used to be a very large sign, which read, *The Lord is not fooled*, or something of that nature. On the other hand, it could be BillZBubb we have been encountering here lately, or Allah, hmm, and how would we explain that? You know, how the mighty are falling, in the U.S., in Iran. Ahmadinejad has kept the Mahdi in a grotto in Iran. Could he have escaped and be getting even? Oh, my goodness, the end is coming, I am telling ya! Of course, I am now going to check in with the Israeli Press to see how they are interpreting all this. Mr. Obama has said this, and Iran has said that, and, see, see what is happening?

This really is pathetic why are reporters chasing down e-mails to a girl-friend? shouldn't they be looking for the money that was spent at the tax payers expense? Or how is he going to pay for the hole he just dropped into? Just how many places does this guy own? expenses.

I would have swooned to get one of those notes from a paramour, that's for sure. Gotta give him that - he sure knows how to woo a woman. Wouldn't he have been smarter to snail mail letters to her - nobody checks those anymore and the only one ratting him out would have been the mistress.

Blame it on gay marriage. If gays weren't getting married in 6 US states, not to mention Canada and all over Europe, then Gov. Sanford would have been faithful to his wife.

This guy did not break down and cry because he was truly repentant, he broke down because he got caught.
It is a sad thing when the best thing one can say for a Republican is that at least he wasn't having sex with young boys or girls.

You're right about the tears flowing due to getting caught. How come he wasn't giving tearful apologies to the press 5 months ago when his wife found out? How do we know he was crying for 5 days in Argentina? For all we know he and Maria were frolicking on the beach and planning their next tryst (at taxpayer expense no doubt).
The GOP (and humanity by the way!) will never be able to adhere to the "moral superiority" they claim to represent. The mixture of power, narcissism and arrogance granted to/exhibited by our "public servants" increases the odds of straying from those standards. The real problem here is that the governor was MIA and the state of South Carolina had no true leader for 5 days. Although the adultery shows the weakness of Standford's character, the way this all played out- MIA, lying and probably on the taxpayer's dime are the true issue. His recklessness also betrays some major problems with the ability to lead. He'll be out of a job soon enough!
I don't think I saw ALL of Sanford's long-winded confession. Did any of you hear him say that this affair was over? Seems to me that might be something he would want to mention.

I didn't get that impression. He was evasive about whether he and Jenny were separated.
Thought the same thing. There was no "we ended the affair" which is why his wife may have given him the marching orders.
