UberCEO:

We're surprised, but not shocked, to find that the top CEOs in the country appear to be mostly absent from the social media community. That's the result from research we conducted over the past several weeks. We looked at Fortune's 2009 list of the top 100 CEOs to determine how many were using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Wikipedia, or had a blog. The results show a miserable level of engagement. Here are the topline results:

Perhaps it is because they are adults - and have actual, tangible lives to live?

They are greedy and seek profit at all cost. No one said they were stupid, and using twitter is. Its a waste of time and energy.

Like anyone would care what the CEO of Exxon or Wal-Mart would tw*t about.

As an Exxon Shareholder, I hope the CEO has better stuff to do with his time than twitter.

Other than exceptions, the most egoistical CEO's spend time walking around in front on TV and cameras discussing their plans with the world. There are plenty of amazing CEO who just do their job behind the scenes. I like those ones.

When was the last time you heard form ExxonMobil or Johnson & Johnson or Proctor&Gamble CEO ? they are doing their job fine.

What do you expect? We were told 10 years ago the internet was going to change everything - faster - better. Now it is my spaceout and tweeter. I agree with most of the comments on this thread, ditch tweeter and get back to work building something.

All CEO's regard their time as extremely valuable, And I don't blame them. They also spend much of their time discussing things that are company confidential, and even their daily agenda would be considered confidential, and again I don't blame them. So the fact that they aren't tweeting their every move to the planet is hardly an indication that they are somehow not tech savy.

Thank God. I am happy to waste my time, but I don't want the CEO's of companies I have invested in goofing around

But they still want the cell phone but mostly to impress other people that they are important enough to have one, not that they fully use it's capabilities.

Hmm seems to me they're still in the 'my secretary prints out my emails for me to read' stage.
Actually it's pretty obvious why they don't do this......so they don't leave an electronic trail when the company does badly.....then can then claim 'I wasn't in the loop' or 'I didn't know' or some other lame excuse.....and still get their hefty compensation/golden parachute.

Don't CEOs have better things to do than play on the Internet? Why would they need a Twitter account? How does that service the needs of customers and shareholders?

Why would anyone waste their time on Twitter? Huffpo is way better.

Isn't Thomas Jefferson the guy who had dozens of slaves?

Talk about "white man with forked tongue".

More evidence that twitter et al are only for people with time to waste.
