Perez Hilton Defends Use Of Word "F*gg*t"

LOS ANGELES — Perez Hilton isn't apologizing for using a gay slur, and says he's never claimed to be a spokesperson for the gay community.

The celebrity blogger said in a statement Tuesday that he will continue to say things upsetting to gay and straight people alike. The comments came after the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called for Hilton to apologize for unleashing the word during an altercation with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.

Hilton said he felt physically threatened and sought the most hurtful thing he could say during the confrontation at a Toronto nightclub early Monday. Police charged the band's tour manager with assault for allegedly punching Hilton.

Hilton said he did what he thought best to stand up for himself.

Thats really not an appropriate thing to say. Yes, Perez Hilton is not doing any favors for the gay community, or himself. And he IS a spokesperson for the gay community weather he likes it or not, when someone is a member of a minority, they are a spokesperson for that group, because people who are not part of that group make judgements on the group from the people they see. As a gay man in the conservative suburbs of New Orleans, I can tell you, when I was in High School, graduated in 2005, there were many students who had never met anyone openly gay, and when I came out at 16, many people were shocked, they assumed all gay people had to be this stereotype. Perez Hilton is showing his @ss right now, and he's not helping anyone. I didn't like what he had to say about Carrie Prejean, it was just obscene, and now he's out calling people homophobic slurs? I just hope as a person he can realized what he's doing wrong, and how he's hurting the community.

The most interesting thing about his statement, is how obvious it is that his website is just a fluke. He's no writer, and his musings are crass and insensitive and always go for the cheap shot. I don't think anyone deserves to be hit or beaten up. On the other hand, if I was going to cheap talk celebs and draw semen oozing from their mouths on pictures of them, or say disgusting things about someone's child, I'd hire a bodyguard or take a self defense class.

Crass and insensitive = the masses. That's why his blog gets so many hits. It's shocking really that people find it entertaining. I mean I like a good piece of gossip, I'm not perfect, but I've only ever visited his blog once a couple of years ago, and I didn't find it at all amusing to look at pics of Lindsay Lohan with coke drawn all around her nose. I thought it was lame and childish. My first thought was "how old is the person who runs this blog"? Until people stop visiting his blog, he will make money.
