Perez Hilton Defends Use Of Word "F*gg*t"

LOS ANGELES — Perez Hilton isn't apologizing for using a gay slur, and says he's never claimed to be a spokesperson for the gay community.

The celebrity blogger said in a statement Tuesday that he will continue to say things upsetting to gay and straight people alike. The comments came after the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called for Hilton to apologize for unleashing the word during an altercation with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.

Hilton said he felt physically threatened and sought the most hurtful thing he could say during the confrontation at a Toronto nightclub early Monday. Police charged the band's tour manager with assault for allegedly punching Hilton.

Hilton said he did what he thought best to stand up for himself.

I do not care what his sexual orientation is. He is rude and mean and I am surprised he has not been hit or beaten more often. I do not approve of that, but he antagonizes people and when you do that you need to expect some of them to react negatively.

Perez does not deserve to be beaten (no one does). However his use of the word was wrong and his defense of it is inexcusable.

His use of the "f" word to hurt someone should be, and in my opinion is, nearly as bad as using the "n" word for the same purpose.

PH is just digging his glory hole deeper and deeper. The fact that he cannot apologize for using a slur in malice to "hurt" someone just shows how detached from reality he finds himself. If this were TR Knight getting into it with a Ryan Seacrest and TR called RS homophobic slurs...PH would be the first one calling TR names...calling for an apology...throwing him under the bus. PH doesn't have to be the voice for the gay community but he knows the difference between right and wrong...and he knows he was wrong and there's no yakkin or blogging about it.....

That wouldn't be considered a hate crime if he got into a fight with someone and it had nothing to do with his sexuality. Hate crime legislation is not drafted so minorities are immune from getting their butts kicked for being a jerk, its to protect them from getting their butt kicked specifically because they are gay, black or otherwise.

Uh, he campaigned to get Isaiah Washington fired from Grey's Anatomy and to get Miss California dethrones for her view on gay marriage like he was a spokesman for the gay and lesbian community.

There is zero excuse for him to use that word under any circumstance. This just shows he's a joke and he got what he deserved.
