I was chatting with a friend in Germany about his and he said

"Sad, because they will probably go to prison for taking justice into their own hands.

But who IS taking justice into their hands? Not governments.

We're just giving banks and financial firms bailouts.

Essentially rewarding them for robbing us all."

How true. Who is taking justice into their hands aside from these pensioners?

As the growth of the financial bubble coincided with the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, maybe it would be wise act to reinstate it as it kept the Banks under control for 66 years.

Glass-Steagall Act
A 1933 act that prohibited commercial banks from undertaking investment banking activities such as underwriting the securities of private corporations. The legislation was passed to keep banks from entering into nonfinancial businesses (for example, owning corporate stock) and more risky activities. The Glass-Steagall Act was repealed in 1999. Also called Banking Act of 1933.

US financial institutions should heed this warning as a measure of the frustration and disgust of its own people. Your GREED is pushing people to the breaking point.

Funny, he said that he won't feel safe until they are behind bars. I won't feel safe until our Banksters are behind bars, but Obama wants to give them even more power.

This is just ridiculous. By their ages, they know full well the meaning of torture and detention from WW2 concentration camps. No amount of money lost is worth this, and now they will spend their lives in jail. Ridiculous.

These folks have nothing to loose. Jail provides a roof over their heads. I applaud their actions.

These people were just acting the fantasies of Bernie Madoff's victims but now they face their own threat of prison time.
Since much of the lost money was generated by income not reported to the taxing authorities, they are also looking at tax evasion problems.

its not just about money, its about losing everything your hard earned savings gives you in life, ie, the roof over your head, food, heat, health care, etc.

I understand how someone, esp the elderly, could get desperate to make these rich f@tcats pay for their transgressions against humanity.

They just wanted information, it wasn't torture, it was enhanced interrogation techniques. HAHAHHAAHa
If the USA is not going to address the sick and twisted nut case's of cheney and bush administrations era, then these people should be given a metal. While we continue to promote and throw money at crooks that have demolished our banking system, these people took it upon themselves to find answers, the Cheney way!
There does seem to be alot of GOP'S right now supporting that line of action, whats the problem?

This comes as no surprise to me ( probably you too ). History has shown people will only be pushed so far before they snap. The criminals on Wall Street etc. know this too. They have bodyguards and live on compounds with tight security. Hopefully things will get better in this country. If not, with all the poor outnumbering the rich, no amount of security will help.

Why do we keep repeating history? When are we going to learn? Why does greed outweigh reason?

Well, the elderly were not all that innocent. The money they had invested was channeled past the tax man, I feel not an ounce of solidarity with anyone who does that, because he/she is stealing from me and my children, every tax penny not paid means less ambulances, money for schools and early education, hospitals, the elderly and needy, museums, public pools and beaches just to think of some. I think if we all agree to create a just society we all need to pay our share.

I agree with everything you wrote. I was talking in general about about the corruption here in America and how eventually people will rise up, if these crooks don't wise up.

You raised some very good points though. Thank you.

Yes, but did it meet Dick Cheney's definition of torture?

Note to financial advisers. Don't pi$$ off old Hippies. Peace and love are admirable qualities but so is retribution.

Indeed, an American "version" of this may serve as a warning and a
reminder of the fierce anger harbored by many people toward
the bankers, risk managers, financial advisers after they
CRASHED AMERICA'S ECONOMY.

Of course, for their financial misdeeds, they got lots of help from
Bush-Cheney's WHOLESALE DEREGULATION.
