Anderson Cooper Remembers Going To Studio 54 When He Was 10 With Michael Jackson (VIDEO)

As part of CNN's coverage of Michael Jackson's death, Anderson Cooper told a story about going to Studio 54 when he was 10 with Jackson and other friends.

"When I was 10, for some odd reason, I went to Studio 54 with Michael Jackson and a bunch of people and I had no idea who he was and I saw him dance and I was like, Oh, that guy is a really good dancer."

Later, he tantalizingly added: "Why I was at Studio 54 is a whole other story... Child welfare authorities probably want to talk to my mom."

yes....tho­se were hazy, heady days and those two were rich so all doors would open to them. cooper, however, must have been with an adult...i cant imagine many 10 year olds deciding to go to studio 54 of their own volition.

When I was 15, in the 60s, I was allowed into Birdland in N.Y.C. I don't if it was still true in the 70s, but minors could go into nightclubs. They checked your ID and you couldn't order an alcoholic drink.

Ah-Hello! The super wealthy can and do things that us non wealthy folks don't even get anywhere near their circle of friends. Wealth gives you a pass on many things until you do something illegal. Even at age 10.

I managed to get into clubs and pubs starting at about 18 (same age as Michael here) even though the drinking age was 21 in the late 70's (laxity abounded), but I think having a grade schooler in tow would have certainly been enough to mess up the deal.

I even worked in a bar when I was 17 - where it was not uncommon for people to smoke hash and snort coke off the table tops. My job? Well, title was restaurant hostess, but in actuality I sat in the darkened restaurant room & watched the front door so I could run to the back room and alert the illegal poker game & various other activities if the cops came in - got good tips for that; yes it was a small-time mob joint, in St. Louis. And to think high school kids don't want after-school jobs these days! What's the world coming to? Builds character!
