Inglis

Wall Street Journal:

South Carolina Rep. Bob Inglis made a name for himself in the late 1990s as one of Bill Clinton's most zealous pursuers, an impeachment "manager" who attacked the moral failings of the president with a gusto that earned him a devoted following in the staunchly conservative "Upstate" of conservative South Carolina.

But with his governor now felled by similar temptations, Inglis sees an opening for the Republican Party, a chance to "lose the stinking rot of self-righteousness" and "to understand we are all in need of some grace."

If the GOP lose their "Stinking Rot Of Self-Righteousness", they will have absolutely nothing left to stand on.

It took Nixon and his followers decades to build that stinking rot!

Talk about ungrateful.

If the entire Republican Clinton indictment/impeachment machine apologized to the former president by bowing at his feet and begging, it would barely be a drop in the ocean on what they would have to do to lose the mantle of hypocrisy. The list is long, my friends, and the journey practically impossible. I'm not expecting much.

Self-righteous too early

Repentant too late.

If I hear one more person talking about how "human" Sanford seemed and how much sympathy we should have for him I shall wretch. This is the same man who can fly to Argentina at the drop of a hat, desert his children and state, while trying to deny SC school children a decent education and still have time to do his mistress. Ultimately though he needs to resign because he sneaked out of the country and never notified staff, security or the Lt. Governor that he was gone.
And there will always be a rotten stink of self- righteousness that will never leave the hypocrites at the GOP.

Let me see if I have this straight. You should lose the stinking rot of self righteousness by acting like you're more in touch with the true message of the Gospels than anyone else.

Pretty good description of the GOP and the religious who power it.

They are rotting in their own hypocrisy.

Bob Inglis, have you lost The "Stinking Rot Of Self-Righteousness" or are you just playing the people of South Carolina or maybe Americans for fools?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:50 AM on 06/25/2009

Every year there are fewer and fewer fools for the Goopers to play. They're down to 27% and sinking fast. Sanford has just helped sink them a little more.

I predict that this plea will fall on deaf ears.

Predictably, how many of us have seen or heard "but...but...but...(insert big bad adulterous Democrat's name here)" from those across the aisle since this trainwreck happened?

"But...but...but..." - Democrats don't usually run their campaigns preaching from a high-horse moral political platform, and usually don't make it a habit to b.u.t.t. their political noses in people's private issues.

Self-righteousness is the GOP's stock and trade, and their selective forgiveness only extends to republicans.

Another difference is when Dems fall, they tend to leave office while Republicans (Ensign, Vitter etc) tend to hang on and on.

This is what they do whenever a Republican is in trouble: they plead for understanding since "everybody does it."

Even with the dumbed down version of the Bible these pigs can't read it and surely can't follow it.

This is as phony as their self-righteousness. Let me know when Inglis becomes a gay-marriage champion.

It hypocrisy silly

Luke 16:18
Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. (So Says Jesus)

Lev 20:10
And the man that committeth adultery with [another] man's wife, [even he] that committeth adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:25 AM on 06/25/2009

Yet they keep trying to sanctimoniously pass laws against gay marriage.

If Sanford is a true believer, he should voluntarily submit himself for god's punishment (stoning to death).

Otherwise, he should admit he has always lied about believing, and voted against gays for short term career advancement, to curry favor with the igno-hate base.
