Craig Ferguson Devotes Entire Monologue To Mark Sanford: Applauds Jenny For Not Standing By Her "Douchebag" (VIDEO)

Craig Ferguson opened his show with a sigh of relief and joy last night saying, "It's one of these days if you're a guy who hosts a late night talk show, even a crap one, it's one of these days that you go 'ahhhh.'"

After taking a few shots at Sanford for an outsourced mistress and (inexplicably) for being flatulent, he applauded Jenny Sanford for not appearing at her husband's press conference saying:

"Good for her I say! Good for you! Finally! I never understood why these women had to stand by their douchebag at the press conference. He's like, 'Oh I did this I did that then I took off her dress and then we went to Hooters'...I think what the wives should do is just wear a t-shirt that says 'I'm with stupid.'"

Ferguson then went after Sanford for banging on about family values while banging on, and governors in general for all the scandals they've caused in America in the past few years:

"You know things are bad when the most normal governor of the last decade has been Jesse 'The Body' Ventura."

The best part of the Sanford story is that yet another wife has told her husband to leave, and he was elected to live there, not her. Like Rudy.

How wonderful was she to throw the governor out of the governor's mansion? Can you just picture him slinking away with his security people?

not until now do i realize what a farce it has been to let the wives so slightly exonerate the spouse simply by appearing at his side. a major blind spot i had that humor uncovered.

Not too sure that Elizabeth isn't hanging around out of habit. She took her db to the cleaners on the book tour. Subtle, but effective!
Craig Ferguson should be the Conan replacement when they run him out of town. He's the best thing on late night.

Ferguson is more of a "cable" guy. He wouldn't make it on prime time or late night. Not that he wouldn't be funny enough, because he is. He'd just be censored beyond recognition.

Ummmm, Elizabeth Edwards is dying, what would be the point at this stage in her life to up and go? Leave her alone, she is doing what needs to be done for herself and her family. She's the one that deserves your respect, she has bigger fish to fry than a falandering husband.

yeah.. he is very good, I have grown to be a fan, his monologue is so folksy and warm - soemthing really different being done with that stale format, he is very talented and dazzeling people with low thrills and little booking help....

Went to a taping of his show on Monday. He was hilarious - even when the camera was off. Today he is in Kosovo and tomorrow Germany entertaining the troops. A good guy.

Nothing like a new American to show us how to be a good American. He's the best. He devoted part of a monologue last year to why we should vote, showing a poster from the old Polish Solidaritiy movement. It was a sketch of Gary Cooper in cowboy garb - Instead of a gun in his hand, he had a ballot. it was on Youtube for a while... Inspiring!
