Crist

Another Republican lawmaker has broken ranks and backed Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio for governor over Sen. Charlie Crist.

U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller made the announcement Thursday.

"Marco Rubio is a young fresh voice for our cause, and he does believe in limited government," he said.

"This race has tremendous implications for the future of Florida and the very foundation of conservatism in America. Marco Rubio possesses an impressive combination of idea-driven, principled leadership and the ability to communicate conservative values in ways that resonate at the kitchen table. Americans deserve better than the current big government, borrow-and-spend road we are on, and I believe Marco Rubio will be a compelling voice to lead us to a stronger and more prosperous America."

U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) have also backed Rubio.

All sane and decent Americans should be considering immigrating to one of the modern countries and getting away from the regressive 3rd world atmosphere that exists in America today.

The dumb ones, the Evangelicals and the greedy elite will stay and deserve to wallow in the mess they have created.

It just doesn't appear as though there is any chance of America pulling itself into the 21st century and the middle class will never recover in a system that worships the almighty dollar with greed and fear being the driving factors behind government and justice.

It's normal to see Republicans turn against and excoriate this "moderate", Charlie Crist. The fact is that Republicans hate gays, and Charlie Crist is a self-loathing closeted homosexual who will marry any unsuspecting woman in preparation for running for public office.

CNN reports on the movie that publicly outs Charlie Crist and the other hypocrites from the Larry Craig wing of the GOP:

I lay this one at your feet Crist. Your whole life is lie. And guess what, they called you on it. The GOP have dropped you like a bad habit. It's lonely at the top, huh. Pick up a sign sir and represent the ones you oppress.

Who is that big business and lobbyists? Come on the guy is center of the road and has kicked the conservatives square in the pants that is what you do not like. That and he will not side with those who pay off the other Republicans.

Needless to say, I'm not surprised. Charlie Crist is a moderate, relatively sane and fairly popular.
That being said, it's no surprise that Rethugs want him out.

Come to our side Charlie. You could do no worse than some of the blue dogs we have in the Democratic Party.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but the article says:

"...Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio for governor over Sen. Charlie Crist. "

I'm not a Floridian, but I thought Charlie Crist was the governor and he and Rubio are vying for the Senate seat currently held by Mel Martinez...

Is that not correct?

That's alright. The reporters don't know that Paris was called the City of Light because it was a place for learning and the arts during the Dark Ages and not the City of Lights plural. It was named long before there were gas or electric lights.

Doesn't matter, a Dem. will win it anyway. They've lost the Latino vote after the Sotomayor ordeal.

If the Rushpublican Party at large backs Rubio, but Crist manages to win the nomination, Crist has a pretty good chance to win as things stand now. Maybe that is their plan: to tack on the "party support" and let Crist win, while Rubio goes down, taking all the party stink with him.

Sorry to puncture your balloon, but the older Cuban voters will be voting for Marco Rubio--he's one of their own and they would rather drink arsenic than vote for a Democrat or a moderate Republican! You are correct about other Hispanic voters, most of whom weren't voting Republican anyway.

Many Democrats think that way but it is the same as thinking like all Asians are the same. You know like people from Korea and Japan and China and Vietnam all like each other.

Come out now, later, never or it really doesn't even apply, who cares? He has been a good Gov. and that is all that matters. Cut the crap.

Actually it does matter. When a public politician like Crist is having flings with men in secret, then publicly does an about-face and actively campaigns against the civil rights of gay people, they should be called out on it. (Remember?? Charlie Crist was an active proponent of the gay adoption ban in Florida). Dillydawg, election to public office does NOT entitle politician to hypocricy.

The movie "Outraged" provides a good background of the circumstances of Crist's homosexuality and tactics.

Time to COME OUT OF THE CLOSET, CHARLIE CRIST! GAY IS OKAY!

Wonder how many more of these folks will take the extreme right wing candidate over someone who is known as a moderate.

I live in Florida and as far as Republican candidates go, I choose Crist ... gay or not. I don't like hypocrisy on any issue but I'm picking my battles here. I'd prefer to see a Dem in office but I wouldn't trash talk Crist.

Rubio won't get them the Hispanic vote.

He probably won't even get them the seat.

If they want to keep the seat they need to go moderate.
If they want to garner the Hispanic vote they need to learn the meaning of empathy.

I just can't wait to see Pres. Obama with his arm around whatever Democrat we run in front of a crowd of 50,000 while the millions pour into the coffers of the state Democratic party. Crist is the first real test balloon of just how screwed the republican party is.

They would rather have "purity", which means decaying into a hate-filled rabid right-wing party.
