Another Republican lawmaker has broken ranks and backed Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio for governor over Sen. Charlie Crist.

U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller made the announcement Thursday.

"Marco Rubio is a young fresh voice for our cause, and he does believe in limited government," he said.

"This race has tremendous implications for the future of Florida and the very foundation of conservatism in America. Marco Rubio possesses an impressive combination of idea-driven, principled leadership and the ability to communicate conservative values in ways that resonate at the kitchen table. Americans deserve better than the current big government, borrow-and-spend road we are on, and I believe Marco Rubio will be a compelling voice to lead us to a stronger and more prosperous America."

U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) have also backed Rubio.

Sounds like if Rubio wins, it will be the GOP's loss.

Wait a minute? Isn't Crist the current governor of FL and they're both running for Senate?

You kidding?? He always legislates anti-gay on issues. Always.

Because he is a self-loathing hypocrite with political aspirations. He somehow thinks that it is weak for high-profile gay men like himself to come out of the closet and be honest with the world.

DeMint and Huckabee endorsed? Now Rubio just needs a nod from Palin to complete a hat-trick of incompetence and inanity.

I find it hard to believe anyone is dumb enough to vote for DeMint.

Rubio couldn't even get reelected in his own state of Florida. He championed property tax reform in Florida that has now caused a revenue shortfall in all Florida counties and municipalities. Tens of thousands of people have lost their careers; school systems have run out of money and are laying off teachers left and right. Rubio is a brash, ultraright winger. I think the whole country is pretty muchover these types.

Marco Rubio is the new hope for the GOP, that's why they are backing him. He is young, good looking, and ultra conservative. The GOP is planning to run him in 2012. While we are all distracted with Palin, the GOP is moving quietly to get this guy in the Senate.

Come out (er, I meant "on") over to the other side, Charlie..... they think you're a RINO anyway.

Charlie Crist, please get your act together (get therapized, see a counselor, end your sham marriage) and COME OUT OF THE CLOSET!

He is a politician from the Larry Craig wing of the GOP: secretly has romances and flings with men, then publicly and actively works against the civil rights of gays in his state. Remember his vocal support for a gay adoption ban?

Two-faced politicians have no place in public office, and unfortunately his actions have caught up to him: Republicans are excoriating him for secretly being gay and the progressives are excoriating him for being a hypocrite of the first degree. Either way, everybody recognizes he has absolutely no integrity.

This post is totally uncalled for. I live in Florida and support Crist, even though I am a Democrat. the reasons for supporting him are that

1. he is a good man
2. people like you

During the last gov. election Crist was smeared by members of his own party on TV as being gay. They went as far back as his college days, where he had a male room mate, and used that as proof for him being gay. Hey, I had one too in college, and I am not gay. Not that it matters whether he is gay, or not, but even for GOP standards this was a new low.

You guys suck. Crist needs to switch parties, means, he needs to leave the sinking ship that's called GOP.

Sorry you are wrong. Ask the following people:

His "ex-girlfriends"
and his former lovers

The truth hurts sometimes. Gay is okay!

This is nothing but an inflammatory gossip post.
What do you, in reality know about Gov. Crist? Do you even live in, or have close ties to Florida?
I am a progressive democrat, and I support Crist. he is a good Governor. Just today he refused to allow the insurance companies the upper hand in rates, and took State Farm to the mat. This did not endear him to the Republican base. he is a good, moderate republican, who cares less for his party and more for his constituants.
The republicans don't like him because he is moderate, and the dems don't like him because he is a republican.
This activist democrat of 50 years voted for him because of his integrity. If you are going to attempt to slander him, please get your facts correct[none in your rant],: or better yet switch to the repub party which always spews the hatred with no factual basis.

You are not a "progressive democrat" if you support a politician who actively campaigns against the civil rights of an unprotected minority class of people... 10% of the population. Shame on you.
