and those Bozos at NBC couldnt see it coming? Leno's transition from Carson was seamless, the viewers were not necessarily "older" They just watched both men for three decades and grew old with the hosts of the show.
Conan is too juvenile for an after the 11 PM news audiance.

The trouble with Conan is that it is geared to a younger audience. It worked really well for his old time slot but there are older people who watch at his new hour. To them the show seems adolescent­.. Jay Leno fit fine with enough of those older viewers and younger ones.
Conan can do great interviews that would work well with the older viewer. He should use them well and tone down some of the adolescent stuff.

I hate to see Conan having to tone it down for viewers who will never get him anyway. I think the best thing for him would be to keep doing his thing, no matter what. The Tonight Show is his now.
