Why so much hate for Conan? If this thread is indicative of the entire viewing market, then I'm afraid Conan may be a little too "out there" for the mainstream American.

I'm a die-hard Letterman fan but I also like Conan.. I try to watch him when he's rerun the next day
I never had any conflict when Letterman and Leno were opposite because I don't enjoy Leno at all.
For me, it's Stewart and Colbert followed by Letterman, closely followed by Ferguson and Conan. Nice that there's so much quality on latenight that it's tough to choose.

Kimmel is funny & directs his show to a younger audience. Conan is just strange-the ultimate nerd-his humor most of the time goes too far & is no longer funny. Never understood the appeal.

After we surveying the choices between Conan, Ferguson, and Kimble after Leno left we also settled on Letterman as being by far the funniest and most polished.

My husband used to watch Conan and Letterman. With the two on the same time slot, he has chosen to watch Letterman. Conan is very talented, but I just can't relate to his type of comedy.

I've always liked Conan, and would choose to watch him almost anyone EXCEPT Letterman (or Jon Stewart, if he ever gets another network gig). Still, I'm sure they can coexist--Letterman was solidly beaten by Leno for years and his job was never in danger.

Also, why is there so much hating on Conan? I mean, it's not his fault that NBC promoted him to 11:30. If your boss offered you a promotion, wouldn't you take it? People seem to act like Conan lobbied actively to get The Tonight Show, when in reality, the network offered it to him 4 or 5 years ago. If you watched both Leno and Conan's last shows, you'd see they have a ton of respect for each other.

Also, Conan JUST started. Of course, some older viewers are going to watch Letterman for the time being. People like the familiar in their late night viewing, and Letterman is a lot closer in style to Leno than Conan is. Conan just needs some time to settle into his new time slot.

In a lot of ways, I wish Conan just stayed at 12:30, even though it's much more convenient having him on at 11:30. At 12:30, he could do a lot more of his niche brand of humor without being bashed for it for by people who don't get him.

I used to watch Letterman at 11:30, and then Conan at 12:30. Now, I choose Conan over Letterman, and watch Craig Ferguson at 12:30.

I don't understand the hating either... Both shows are good, I just happen to be more of a Letterman fan just because I've been watching him since day 1 (between that and being the same age as Michael Jackson, I'm feeling old) ... I always had a conflict at 12:30 because I love Craig Ferguson as well as Conan but now, I have the best of all worlds.. Letterman, Ferguson and then Conan the next day on reruns.

Plus, Letterman was beating Leno for years when Leno first took over. Conan might surge ahead of Letterman down the road. I don't see Letterman going much longer than 2012 anyway.

Yeah, I agree. I don't think the issue would be language so much, but the fact that network hosts have to rpetend to be neutral.
