I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The "Today Show" interviewed the couple whose golden retriever raised three white-striped tiger cubs at their Kansas zoo for an update on how the cubs are doing. The tigers are no longer living in the house; they have their own enclosure with a pool.

The tiger cubs, although they're more like 'tiger teens' today, eat chicken and meat every day, and are enjoying their final days playing with their adopted mother because very soon they'll be too big, and, really, who knows how long this truce in the eternal struggle between cats and dogs can last. The tigers will turn one year old next month.

Aren't Goldens the best? I've got 2 daschunds, sweet guys but about as far away from golden retrievers as possible and stay in the same species.

Yes, Goldens are incredible dogs!! Fabulous disposition.

So gentle and so smart. Humans could learn from Goldens? :-)

I'm pretty sure if my cat was big enough he'd chomp, torture and then eat me.

All I know is that my cat rules my household! ;)

(Love these interspecies stories.)

Beautiful story, but as soon as those tigers get big enough and hungry enough, instinct will come into conflict with habit, and the dog will be a goner.

I don't think they would harm the dog intentionally - these tigers recognize this dog as a companion and not as prey. It is unlikely as captive tigers they will ever be very hungry. The owners are doing the smart thing by keeping them separated from now on though, as the dog could be accidentally injured by roughhousing or a "warning" swipe that would not hurt another tiger.

Not sure about that; I saw a documentary about a lioness ( I think it was on the Discovery Channel) in the wild that systematically adopted orphan gazelles- although they eventually died because she couldn't breastfeed them.

Having said that, I wouldn't tempt fate with that lovely dog...

It's sad really, white tigers are not capable of living in the wild, they were bred by humans simply for their colour. Sadly they will have to live in captivity for the rest of their lives. Stop breedig animals that can't survive or be released into the wild!

To be fair, you just described a vast majority of human children as well, though if you wish to prove me wrong, feel free to use my own incredibly vast family as subjects for your experiment.

Uh...humans made society, and functional adults don't have to live in captivity in wire cages within it (and none of the crud about how a job is a "wire cage," etc.) - when they do, it's called a prison. You really don't get the difference between domestic and wild?

I didn't know cats liked to play in water. Just goes to show, you have to be taught. It's good this couple has enough smarts not to keep these tigers around their home or dog any more. When I think of what happened to that guy during his act n Las Vegas, it's really risky.

I had a cat that used to like to get partially into the shower with me, and I have an acquaintance whose cat gets fully immersed in the bathtub with her daughters!

But you are right, most domestic cats aren't too fond of getting wet.

We have two indoor scats plus one adopted stray cat. All of them view the shower as if the world were coming to an end! lol My daughter's big black cat, Snowball, can't help but hate water cause she bathes him whenever she gets bored. Mittens, the adopted one...just turns into a big furr ball and let's her bathe him..and get it over quickly. Now, my little girl..the smallest in the house.. If I want to bathe her..I take her to the vet with these instructions: Trim her nails first. When I pick them up it's always the same, "the two males are so sweet and enjoy their bathes as much as they can being cats"! And, "it's that mean little one you have to watch out for". "They laughed at me cause I forgot what you said and didn't trim her nails first...she scratched the sh^t outta me"! lol

All mammals can swim, it's just that some of us have enough commonsense not to.

Tigers love water and in the wild are extremely good swimmers. I did a lot of volunteer work with tigers at a sanctuary for big cats. When I first started I was really surprised by how much time they actually spend in water.

This should be prove that interspecies marriage is natural and should be approved.
My friend is trans-species too. She thinks she's supposed to be born a cat.
