Saddam

The Daily News :

Where were Iraq's WMD? How close was Saddam Hussein to Al Qaeda, really?

These were vital - but still unanswered - questions when the Iraqi despot was yanked out of a spider hole in December 2003 and placed in U.S. military detention. Lives were at stake - along with the entire political rationale for the U.S.-led coalition invading Iraq.

Only one man could say for sure, and now that the U.S. finally had him in custody, they had to find out.

There was only one way: Break Saddam.

they told him they'd garnish his wages and up his credit card interest rate and make him unemployed and deny him medical insurance and make him eat only fast food and ramen noodles and repo his home and not let him be part of the new world order.

It was that painting of GW in his cell that he had to stare at all day. I would rather be water boarded.

Saddam Hussein's sons were killed in combat. They could have surrendered but chose to fight.

Dressed out like big game kill in an airforce hanger ... it was a hunt ... and given the fact that all the reasons for going to war were false it was murder.

This is an interesting article. It would be nice if a book was written about this. For security reasons, it may not happen for several decades.

Yes, they were spending all their time on an ex-employee of the US instead of using that time to go after the real criminal, Osama. Iraq was no threat to us. We made it a threat by invading their country and that drew in the outside muslims to come to the aid of that country. People really don't understand, muslims don't want us in their country. It is more distastful to them and they are so willing to blow themselves up just to get at us or those that assist us. We need to get out of iraq and any other muslim country where we have troops. BRING THEM HOME WHERE THEY BELONG. Guard our borders like you're supposed to do.

So true!! gw finally admitted in an interview what we all knew...yes, we are in Iraq for OIL...that was no surprise, not a religious crusade or democratic conversion - OIL. Now, what's with all this saber rattling by mccain with Iran, there is a far more pressing concern with N Korea - why isn't mccain blabbing on THAT situation!

All you have to do is watch the first 48 hours or 360 on A&E and you will see how professionals break the criminals/terrorist in our own country.

Most people give you the info you want very easily.

So they got Saddam to tell them where he was hiding the WMD? What he said he didn't have them and they believed him? And Dick Cheney went along with it?

I don't believe it. He certainly would have told his friend Sean Hannity not to make a fool of himself.

Mathew Alexander's lectures on his days as an interogator in Abu Ghreb and Guantanamo made me realize who the true terrorist was. It was Dick Cheney. Folks, Cheney was behind all of the torture we used on so called terror suspects. Saddam was someone who survived as long as he did thanks to the Geneva Convention. If Cheney had his way, that man would have been mutilated, hung in public for all the world to see. Generals, refused to perform or order the repulsive, vile, utterly barbaric forms of torture Cheney wanted. If our troops had those kinds of torturous abuses committed on them , and we know many did, there would have been hell to pay. We know iraq wasn't responsible for 911, its been proven. We know the WMD were bogus accounts, what Americans MUST demand answers to, is just how far did Cheney go in ordering the levels of Torture outlawed as far back as Lincoln. Saddam is the tip of the iceberg that runs very deep. Its time to expose its roots.

I'm sure this will bother some people, but I think it was wrong to whack this guy. We shoulda left him in power, because a Thug over a zealot is a good thing. Thugs like Saddam can be dealt with, Zealots are much trickier.

Saddam at least woulda been a better buffer between Iran and the rest of the middle east, but he could have even been brought into the fold.

I think Saddam was alot better than Kim Jong, who is clearly a loon without any sense of reality.

yeah, I think invading Iraq was dumb and a based on a lie, but this guy should not have been killed.
