Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took a shot at John Kerry when speaking to troops in Kosovo.

The Massachusetts Democrat had joked that he wished Palin had gone missing instead of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.

"He looked quite frustrated and he looked so sad," Palin responded. "I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say, 'John Kerry, why the long face?'"

"America is not the crude stereotype of a self-interested empire. The United States has been one of the greatest sources of progress that the world has ever known. We were born out of revolution against an empire. We were founded upon the ideal that all are created equal, and we have shed blood and struggled for centuries to give meaning to those words - within our borders, and around the world."

She "lifted" it from Letterman....

Palin has no authenticity to her, and must continually steal from everyone including the GOP and State of Alaska...now Letterman!

Pathetic!!!!!!!!!

How about when Obama plagiarized Deval Patrick? You must think that was pretty pathetic of Obama, right?

There is nothing "iconic" about Palin or her baby.

Someone told Stables to say that. But how funny is it that Stables repeated the "special needs baby" mantra TWICE? LOL!

To Stables: Do you know what "iconic" means? And why do you refer to the baby in Palin's arms as "special needs baby"? It's the figure of a baby.

The political prop that was/is Trig Palin -- luckily for him -- doesn't have a ID badge on a lanyard around its neck that says "special needs". Like I said, Stables had to be TOLD to say that.

I honestly cannot understand how McCain could have picked her. It is painful to watch her try to string a few coherent sentences together while tossing in a few fun facts. You could tell the guys were trying to be polite, but were smirking nonetheless. I don''t Palin realizes that outside of her little bubble of sycophants and enablers, people think she is a joke.

Very short on substance. Poorly dressed when she met the big wigs. Very inaapropriate to take a swipe at Kerry to military men. She can't resist the barbs.

CG Says:
June 27th, 2009 at 6:02 PM
This is the standard to which Palin should rise. Attire, speech, demeanour. She should take something seriously. She seems to behave like a snarky celebrity, instead of an elected official.

“It is DoD policy to encourage members of the Armed Forces (hereafter referred to as “members”) (including members on active duty, members of the Reserve Components not on active duty, members of the National Guard even when in a non-Federal status, and retired members) to carry out the obligations of citizenship. In keeping with the traditional concept that members on active duty should not engage in partisan political activity, and that members not on active duty should avoid inferences that their political activities imply or appear to imply official sponsorship, approval, or endorsement, the following policy shall apply:

4.1.3. Commissioned officers shall not use contemptuous words as prohibited by section 888 of Reference (b) or participate in activities proscribed by DoD Directives 5200.2 and 1325.6 (References (g) and (h), respectively).

Article 88—Contempt toward officials
“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

Palin is trying to look like a concerned state official. (oops, it’s not working).

She is just padding her passport.(has aways to go yet).

Now everybody can see that she has foreign policy experience (only she and her base believe that one) and is a worldly traveler(sometimes it feels as if she is from another world).

Palin doesn’t care about culture, traveling or becoming familiar with a country’s people, history, language, customs, and food( she thinks everybody should speak “American“).

Palin is as superficial as they come. It’s all about MeMeMe first, last and always! Can she be any more shallow?(I think she is currently the worldwide champion of narcissistic behaviors and don't forget bi po lar runs a very close second!)

Remember this??? Politicking is NOT allowed when addressing the troops!

When ABC News asked Obama about the controversy during a stop in London on July 26, 2008, he defended his decision to wait on a trip to Landstuhl.

“I was going to be accompanied by one of my advisors, a former military officer," Obama said, referring to one of his foreign policy advisors, retired Maj Gen. Scott Gration. "We got notice that he would be treated as a campaign person, and it would therefore be perceived as political because he had endorsed my candidacy but he wasn’t on the Senate staff. That triggered then a concern that maybe our visit was going to be perceived as political. And the last thing that I want to do is have injured soldiers and the staff at these wonderful institutions having to sort through whether this is political or not or get caught in the crossfire between campaigns."

"So rather than go forward and potentially get caught up in what might have been considered a political controversy of some sort," Obama said, "what we decided was that we not make a visit and instead I would call some of the troops that were there. So that essentially would be the extent of the story."

The funniest thing is…………Palin plagiarized this joke from…………………David Letterman!!

The long face comment was made when Kerry was running for POTUS, then again a few nights ago!

However, the troops deserve better than Palin stumping for 2012.

They deserve better than Palin taking pot shots at a decorated veteran, one of their own.

They deserve better than Palin taking cheap shots at the Vice President Joe Biden, because he dressed in a suit to speak with them. Biden, after all is second in line to be their Commander and Chief!!

This was SUPPOSED to be about the TROOPS not Palin.

Palin is on foreign soil now, and taking shots at a sitting senator AND the Vice President is unpatriotic.

Palins is a living, breathing, walking, talking, (word salad speak) SNL skit……………..Palin IS the joke!

Yup, yup!!
She thinks that fact checking and plagiarism is.... well, she probably can't even spell it... Like a lot of GOP she feels that she can say what she wants and if its wrong then she isn't accountable.
Whatever, partisanship is not appropriate when addressing troops on deployment. This is nothing less than undermining the chain of command... She would be a nightmare if she was CinC... very, very scarry thought.

She didn't actually say that did she? I don't listen to her, and I don't know why anyone else does but this is incredible. Sounds more like an after midnight pickup line in a neighborhood bar than a statement by a professional in front of an audience. And she had the nerve to attack Letterman for his joke??? Sounds to me like he should just run this video every night for the next three years or so. As for me, I won't watch it here.

Perhaps a few letters posted to US commanders about Palin’s inappropriate remarks would be fruitful.

When someone serves in the military, they represent the US government and their ultimate boss is the President. Whether Madame Palin likes Obama or not, whether she adored Bush or not, or whether she’s having yet another hissy fit about someone like John Kerry is irrelevant. When addressing the troops as a representative of any governmental entity within the US, she must be respectful.

Troops are charged with representing the country and they MUST show respect to all members of the military, their chain of command and past and present members of the military. The same is true for anyone addressing them. Whether they are involved in peacekeeping efforts or actual combat they are there to serve the US and not to be used to promote any political canadiate.

Perhaps Sarah’s campaign stunt should be exposed for what it was and she should NOT be allowed to address ANY troops again.

The "long face" joke is starting to look incredibly astute. *haha

Kerry needs a sense of humor.
