Some nice rides on that list. At the moment, though, the Tesla is getting out-reviewed by the VW TDI:

That's about 4 point better on average than the Tesla. Which is pretty significant.

Converting reviews into numerical scores is no science. It's pure subjectivity masquerading as science.

Significance has a precise meaning in statistics. "Pretty significant" does not.

Green car is an oxymoron. The only truly green transportation modes are biking/walking and mass transit. Even with some wonder zero-emission car you still have the massive highway infrastructure needs, congestion, and urban sprawl. This country needs a move towards transit oriented development. The next wave of transportation isn't rethinking the car, it is restoring density to our urban areas.

Everything you say is true but we need to find a way to get there.

The key to electric isn't the car. It's how to deliver the electricity. The Big Shots are befuddled because electric cars would mean plugging in wherever you like, so against traditional market manipulation. That's why Goldman Sachs and other manipulators are holding the electric car revolution off until they can secure the ALL POWERFUL monopoly "smart grid" - the moment when we all becomes serfs to Utilities to fit in with our servitude to banks and health insurances.

Wouldn't it be nice if a GROUP, or MEMBERSHIP of INDEPENDENT and FREE Americans could get their cars charged whenever and wherever they happened to go, and at the same time be a powerful enough consumer bloc to demand the greenest electricity at the most competitive rates?

Sound like fiction?

HA.

We already invented it.

It is good to see a couple of American vehicles on this list. Let's get some more next year.

If you plan to buy a Tesla, make sure you are really tiny. It's made only for really small people. If you're over 5'6", forget about it, you won't fit in it.

Your body needs to be tiny, but your wallet needs to be fat. But on the plus side, you can out-smug the Prius owners.

Most motorcycles will beat the gas mileage of most hybrids. And they are equipped with catalytic converters.

A $100,000 dollar car can hardly be called green unless you’re talking about the money? on hundred thousand leaves a large carbon footprint. Hello. BTW: What all gas autos are getting better milage than hybrids? Gas is a finite resource and prices are already climbing.

I have a question.... Why pay 5,000 - 8,000 for a hybrid when 100% petrol cars are getting as many miles/gallon if not more than these hybrids....????

I think GM and Chrysler should get into whatever car market there is a demand for..... lets not bail them out only to have them fail under the new restrictions government puts on them...... if there is a demand for hybrids.... someone will make them and make money..... the rest will follow.....

let the free market do what it does best....... work!

The Tesla Roadster is one sweet looking car. Wish I had $100,000 for it.

Is hemp legal yet?
01:39 PM on 06/26/2009
Hemp is expensive because its illegal
hemp 8x more oil than soy or canola
Feed the hemp seed to chickens and turkeys.
extract the oil from the leaves and stems
burn the rest for making electricity

there's a problem with that idea though..... It makes too much sense!

Kelley Blue Book has a similar list of the top 10 green cars. The Prius, Insight, Fusion, Jetta TDI, and Escape made both lists. Otherwise the lists differ.

Id love to get a Jetta TDI there is no hemp diesel for it why bother?
The climate bill wont lead to investment with out hemp being legal.

Hemp is actually rather expensive as a fuel. Canadian-grown hemp seeds cost about $.41 American per pound, while other common oil crops (soybeans, canola, and flax) average $.10 per pound. In addition, hemp oil degrades a lot more quickly than most other vegetable oils.
