We live in a time when the global village is being amassed from its far-flung and previously disjointed composites. This time is a landmark moment. We are the ones entrusted to set its standard. We have failed thus far. But we still have a chance to redeem ourselves.
I've watched as the world has been increasingly drawn to celebrities as global icons and role models. This is a natural result of the huge growth of immediate global communication. With the advent of the internet humankind has jumped from celebrating the most popular kids in high school to celebrating, and debasing, the most popular kids in the world.
