One of the other things that bothered me were the e-mails and who released the information? It seemed personal for that to happen. It was not appropiate but, still who released the emails-was he under investigation-why was that done? The incident was bad enough but, to think people's mail can be opened and public is sickening. Is there not a Postmaster General? So, whose authority is it to publish his personal mail. And was he stupid to leave a letter where his wife could read it? Now that would have been the kick butt moment. So, NASA can zoom in on us? Now that is interesting indeed.

As a Dem, I say Dems should point out the hypocrisy and then give it a rest. Of course Bill had the presence of mind and dedication to stay on the job while he was having "sexual relations with that woman" in the White House.
Bill did not abandon his job or spend public money in the process of obtaining sexual gratification either.
In actual fact he did use public money, the white house is rented for the duration of a presidents term using taxpayers money, he had oral sex during normal working hours and we paid his salary while it was happening! Also she was an intern whose pay and expense account comes out of public funds!!. So to sum it up we rented the room for him, and paid both he and Monica to have sex. Great work if you can get it!! And by the way I'm a democrat , but let's not stick our heads in the sand, they all feed at the public trough.

The longer Sanford waits to resign the greater embarrassment his family will
suffer. More and more garbage is bound to become public.
We know he is impervious to feeling anything but EGO but hopefully he still
has a smidgen of heart left for his current wife and children to do the right thing.
Also, he owes his resignation to South Carolina citizens.
As a South Carolina citizen and liberal Dem voter, I have never voted for Sanford. However, the alternative to Sanford is NOT viable. Bauer is a buff.oon. Total incom.petent. He also wants to be governor.
Sanford has demonstrated he thinks with two brains - upper and lower. Bauer has only one - lower.
No Bauer is not an option.

Sanford should resign and save everybody the trouble and his family the embarrassment: Not because he had an affair, which seems to be a common occurrence among politicians, but because he ditched South Carolina for 5 days and not his aides or family knew where he was. That's dangerously irresponsible for a Governor. Also, he used state funds to fly to Argentina to see his mistress which is theft. As well as the fact that he refused stimulus money for his state because it went against his politics. South Carolinians have surely had it with this guy.
Sanford didn't even have the integrity to leave his family and South Carolinans, to stay with his Argentine lover. Don't forget, Maria is a victim also...

I think his aides knew where all his trips were ending up. i think they should be charged with something. I think his wife knew too, each time. They didn't think the lt. guv would sing like a canary and then all the dominoes fell. Every rat jumping off the sinking ship. Sanford the big rat. Stole big cheese from his state, while refusing to help those who needed help, invoking the bible and family values, jetsetting to argentina - and i don't believe it just started this year. State debt - he created most of it and wanted everyone else to pay for it. He should just be a figurehead until he's done- but thrown out if there's no way the Bauer creep can step in. He seems so much worse that what you've got. Neither is the sharpest tool in the shed.

His mistress is still married and has another boyfriend or did. Sanford married up - way up. He doesn't mind leaving the wife, he certainly doesn't mind leaving the kids, but it's hard to leave all that money. Stripped of the money, the position and the power, my guess is that MRS Argentina would cool off rapidly. Sanford is an unusually unattractive man. When all you have to offer are the liver spots, the eye bags, the receding hairline and the wrinkled forehead, it isn't likely that you are going to be at the top of the eye candy list.
How about his marriage and his governorship. Duh.

No, he's not free. He voluntarily ran for the elected position he holds, and took an oath to serve the people of The State of South Carolina. He also voluntarily took an oath to be faithful to his wife (even if it was only for the money).
Maybe in your opinion, those vows he took in public don't mean anything, but I think the people of South Carolina would beg to differ with you.
And I suspect that once Sanford is a big nobody, with no money and no position, his "lady" will all of the sudden not be all that interested in him.
What's to investigate? In the world I live in, if you skip out on work for a week you are terminated. If you skip out on work, charge $12k in personal travel to the company card, you are terminated and prosecuted? Period.
A GOP state legislator reported yesterday that Sanford had diverted 100K federal grant into his personal PAC last year, got caught and they let him repay the money. With a history of misappropriating state funds from a state that you have bankrupted, it might be to the state's advantage to investigate.
