I Like ItI Don’t Like It

On Friday, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) delayed a vote on the American Clean Energy and Security Act with a nearly hour-long speech. He knew the Republicans didn't have enough votes to defeat the bill. In an interview with The Hill he explained himself: "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of shit."

Here's a taste of Boehner's Friday afternoon speech:

In the past, Boehner has suggested that carbon dioxide is not dangerous because cows fart a lot.

It seems even another depression won"t change people"s attitudes, or the way history looks at things. Look at the First Great Depression, and the things we were taught to be true (which in fact were all lies): FDR saved us from the depression, Hoover was a do-nothing type, FDR was almost god.

I know, I know - the old saying "History repeating itself"
I guess that is obama"s goal - to be a black FDR that will lead us out of the depression that HE created...

But I have got to give him Boehner credit. Because in the end people will be driven by money, jobs, and security. People will be willing to "sacrifice" the environment if that means they can still drive a car instead of walking 2 miles to work every day. He was right about rural America getting hit hard.

Oh, and when I say "sacrifice the environment," I mean most people won"t give a rats behind what Nancy, Al, and obama say when gas is $12/gal.

Obama created ? Before he took office? Nice attempt at "future history revision".

Have you ever spoken with someone who actually lived during FDR's presidency? In decades of involvement with older people, I have never heard ONE person say he/she viewed FDR in the way you present him. Interesting that those "lies" you claim we've been taught seem to be the the truth in the opinion of the majority of the Greatest Generation who actually lived through those awful days.

Progressophobia: An extreme fear of all types of progress that seems to afflict only the republican party.

progressing to what a life where i have to ask the government if its okay to piss outside, they're going crazy with this bill, it costs more than America has times two and includes the adding of a government group that can seize ones home if not meeting the environmental standards... sounds like tyranny to me! dont support this bill

You have it confused. The Dems and the Repubs cheer for progress. What some Repubs (and almost all Conservatives) don't support is Progressive Fascism. Which as we all know is 2 fancy words put together meaning Marxism.

So Boehner, if climate change is due to cow flatulence how come you haven't introduced legislation to slaughter all cows and save us from global warming? :)

Boy, how can people of Ohio keep electing this blow hard? Conservative districts around the country are getting fed up with this coninually negative rant when Repubs are confronted with reality.

I hope he continues to be the voice of the minority, it will continue to shrink in size, and he will soon be referred to as a Yankee by his party's leadership.

Boehner is not real. He is a cloned human being for the republican party. This man is not human. He is some type of robot type thing that can talk, act, and programmed to think he's thinking. He frightens me because I don't think he is real.

Touche'. I'm no scientist, so I don't know much about solutions to our climate problems. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Boehner is a big pile of crap.

Dear MoveOn member,
The U.S. House passed a huge energy bill Friday. Lots of good people are applauding the passage of this legislation. But here's the ugly truth:

Big Oil and Coal lobbyists, working in cahoots with some conservative Blue Dog Democrats, weakened the bill terribly—it now falls far short of President Obama's campaign vision to transition America's economy to clean energy and create millions of new jobs.

In fact, the bill repeals a key part of the Clean Air Act and doesn't do nearly enough to shift America to renewable energy—so instead of a boom in solar and wind, the bill locks us into dirty coal power for another generation.1

Working with progressive champions in the House, we were able to achieve modest gains at the eleventh hour (see details below). But saving the Clean Air Act and fixing other problems with the bill as the fight moves to the Senate will require a massive grassroots outcry.

So we have a decision to make: Should MoveOn launch a full-court press to fix the bill, and turn up the heat on senators who might be tempted to side with Big Oil and Coal?

Click to vote:

"Yes. Let's fight to save the Clean Air Act and fix the energy bill."
"No. I don't think we should do that." (And tell us why.)
We'll go forward if 2/3 of us who vote think it makes sense.
