I Like ItI Don’t Like It

On Friday, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) delayed a vote on the American Clean Energy and Security Act with a nearly hour-long speech. He knew the Republicans didn't have enough votes to defeat the bill. In an interview with The Hill he explained himself: "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of shit."

Here's a taste of Boehner's Friday afternoon speech:

In the past, Boehner has suggested that carbon dioxide is not dangerous because cows fart a lot.

Was Boehner looking in the mirror when he said this?

What is rubbing on his skin anyway, that makes it that odd color?

obama making this statement back in Jan 2008: I’ll make energy prices “skyrocket”

"The problem is not technical, uh, and the problem is not mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington. The problem is, uh, can you get the American people to say, “This is really important,” and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake. Uh, and climate change is a great example.

You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers."

Now I am sure that there might be those who don't believe what they just read. Well then, let's have Barry say it himself in this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlTxGHn4sH4&feature=player_embedded

But the real question is, will Cap and Trade (Crap and Tax), Will it save the Earth...Probably Not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPPVDOpFCIA&feature=player_embedded

By the way, congrats to Al Gore, he is now one step closer to being the first Billionaire from Global Warming!

PINO,
The majority of Americans are very happy that people of your mentality are out of power and reduced to trolling and whining on progressive websites. Pathetic little boy...

The next time you "quote" Palin or lil' geo make sure you state it EXACTLY instead of paraphrasing to make it understandable. Neither of them can string 6 words together into a comprehensible sentence or use words correctly.

Pino, text out of context is pretext. What was the entirety of the discussion about?

Second, the price of crude oil is going up right now because of events beyond our borders and speculation. With cap and trade, consumption of hydrocarbons will decrease (which is the point) and the price of crude oil and oil products will decrease because of decreasing demand.

Our economy will always need hydrocarbon based products. Cap and trade will move us to a more mixed economy that is not solely oil based.

It seems even another depression won"t change people"s attitudes, or the way history looks at things. Look at the First Great Depression, and the things we were taught to be true (which in fact were all lies): FDR saved us from the depression, Hoover was a do-nothing type, FDR was almost god.

I know, I know - the old saying "History repeating itself"
I guess that is obama"s goal - to be a black FDR that will lead us out of the depression that HE created...

But I have got to give him Boehner credit. Because in the end people will be driven by money, jobs, and security. People will be willing to "sacrifice" the environment if that means they can still drive a car instead of walking 2 miles to work every day. He was right about rural America getting hit hard.

Oh, and when I say "sacrifice the environment," I mean most people won"t give a rats behind what Nancy, Al, and obama say when gas is $12/gal.

Have you ever spoken with someone who actually lived during FDR's presidency? In decades of involvement with older people, I have never heard ONE person say he/she viewed FDR in the way you present him. Interesting that those "lies" you claim we've been taught seem to be the the truth in the opinion of the majority of the Greatest Generation who actually lived through those awful years.

Many of the comments here are based on ignorance - not knowledge. Take the time to read the bill -
research it - ALL of it. You can't ignore the fact that 30+ Democrats voted NO on this bill. And keep in mind that MILLIONS of jobs will be lost due to "outsourcing." And that carbon emissions will not be reduced significantly enough to make any impact. Lots of questions need to be answered.

Like the millions of slave labor jobs already created by Bush and the GOP in third world countries, to flood our markets with cheep goods; and yes lets count those Blue Dog obstructionist Democrats that are in the pockets of the corporations.

Jobs? Do you understand what an inhabitable planet is? Are you aware that astrophysicists and astronomers have not been able to find one (for certain) within a travelable distance? You worry about uncle Remus getting fired from the plant? Who cares about Uncle Remus or his kids or his town or me or you or the President or the transient state entity called "China" or anything usually bandied about by Politicians? This is not a political matter. It is transpolitical. It is even Transmoral/Transethical in that if it were necessary to force 1-child policies world-wide, force abortions, even kill newborns, to bring the population down to a sustainable level, then it would be acceptable.

That is the SCOPE of this problem. If you are a warm blooded, relatively complex multicellular organism, you have a greater stake in this THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

What would we do without those GOP interns and hired keyboard jockeys who troop out to liberal news web sites, talking points o' the day clutched in their sweaty little hands, posting dutifully these predictable posts of populist pretense?

They bring us such an unending stream of amusement...

Your ignorance, beachrose. Democrats who voted against it are being "lobbied to the max". Millions of jobs will NOT be lost due to oursourcing. This is cap and TRADE.
