Tomorrow is the deadline for U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq, a date Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is calling a "great victory." But in a new interview with Washington Times radio, Vice President Cheney was still pushing the U.S. to stay in Iraq, saying that withdrawal would "waste" the sacrifice of U.S. troops:

"Cheney Worried That Iraq Withdrawal Will 'Waste' The Sacrifice By U.S. Troops"

"Cheney Worried That Iraq Withdrawal Will 'Waste' The Slaughter of US Troops and Iraqi Civilians That He Engineered to Further His Personal Agenda and The Value of His Haliburton Stock"

That anyone is even quoting or interviewing him about the Iraq war is insane. Why ask a criminal what he thinks about mitigating crime?

Bush and Chaney must be behind bars for war crimes and mass murder. Why are they still at large?

I think Mr. Cheney is more worried about the price of his Halliburton stock if the US Government cancels the no-bid contracts they have to provide laundry services for US troops (at one hundred dollars a load) or the concessions contracts (furnishing our troops with individually bottled soft drinks at four bucks a pop).

Hey, don't waste that effort, troops! I'm not quite a billionaire yet!

isnt this the 7th veil dropping. didnt we agree to this withdrawal at the request of the Iraqi government we assert is legitimate. so we are really invaders and there despite what they, thru a democratic process we created, tell us they want us to do. INVADERS

No remorse ... no regret ... no empathy for the victims of his lies ... no acknowledgement in the face of facts that they were lies. Classic sociopath.

There's still time left for Mary and Liz to join. They can lead patrols as U.S. advisors. They can honor all the past lives lost for corporate profit. Maybe they can be the last martyrs for chickenhawk diplomacy.

Iraq will fall back into the insurgent rule without us there, so he is spot on in his statement. If we leave now, we'll be back in under 5 years... guaranteed.

I wonder , does Iraq EVER have to run their own country ?
Does our sacrifice ever end ?
Tell me again about any sacrifice Cheney ever made ?

Sure they do, but there are still enough people there willing to sacrifice their Iives to hurt the fragile government. I never said Cheney is some great "God" to worship or anything, rather that this idea he has is a very good thought that will get ignored by Obama, purely on the basis of "Cheney said it."

Cheney is a monster who should be in jail for sacrificing troops and civilians for corporate profits.

Withdrawing now will prevent more troops from being sacrificed for Cheney's and his cronies' profits.

Sacrifice implies that a person knows the facts and agrees to risk his life in the name of the cause. In this case it is completely misleading to imply that our soldiers willingly made the kind of sacrifices Cheney asserts because they were lied to about the reasons for going to war. The more correct terminology Cheney should have used is that he is worried that Obama might undo the progress he (Cheney) made while sacrificing our soldiers.
