This is why Obama is in and Daschle is out. Old, out of touch, bloodless, heartless, clueless....

Daschle is missing a very key point.....the public plan is not a dispensable, disposable, minor nuisance detail getting in the way of reform. It's a basic tenent, a groundrule, a fundamental component of universal health care that you can't compromise and negotiate a way.

How hard is that to understand?

I have heard and read that you do not care one whit about what the constituents want as to healthcare. You might want to rethink that position. No one is exempt from losing a re-election bid. No one. Ask old Tom Daschle.

We need a public option. We have had private health insurers collecting huge premiums and denying care and coverage for years. They will not stop unless they are forced to stop. You can help bring about the change we need. A public healthcare option would force private insurers to bring down premiums and offer healthcare coverage to all who can pay without regard to pre-existing conditions. A Medicare type public option would force private insurers to rethink their huge administrative costs and look for ways to reduce their overhead so that more of our premium dollars go to health services and not lining the pockets of CEOs and other administrators. This is our time. This can get done. Grow a spine and stand up for the American people.

You may have forgotten: we won. We have the majority in the House and Senate. We are in power. If it takes reconciliation, then so be it."
