Wall Street Journal:

A will drafted by Michael Jackson in 2002, which divides the singer's estate among his mother, three children and one or more charities, could play a central role in determining how his tangled financial relationships will be unwound.

Waiting for distraction to be over....

It's a distraction of choice. You don't have to read it. The media stayed on Anna Nicole for months, and, bless her heart, she did NOTHING that warranted that kind of attention.

who's bad! I hope it's true!

The quality of Michael's mind, all throughout his life, is now becoming clear with his death. It seems only in retrospect we can appreciate how smart he was. This is real justice.

indeed! it's sad that all the bs overshadowed all that he has done. Although I was born during his prime years, I've been a huge fan for years....timeless music!

This Joe Jackson is a creep.

Yeah he may be a creep, but he's doing just fine. In fact, I started a new record label with someone Michael might have liked. I wouldn't know.

If this will turns out to be the "real thing", it's good to know that Michael Jackson had enough of a grip on reality to cut his abusive father out of it! By the way, judging the way people are clarmoring to buy Michael Jackson CDs, DVDs, etc., his estate may actually be worth something by the time all the debts are paid off!!

Notice how Joe Jackson is the only one doing appearances with no other family member around him? I believe they want nothing to do with him. He ought to be ashamed of himself.

Joe Jackson's appearances are BUSINESS-RELATED. He had no intention of making a personal comment on his son's death.

He cant make any personal comments because he is been kept out of the loop by the family.

Actually he did make very distracted and incoherent comments on his sons death, right before he started plugging his record label. He is a truly repugnant human being.

I find it repulsive that Joe Jackson would plug his new record label, even before he has buried his son. I'm sure he is grieving the loss of his meal ticket.

I would hope that all loyal MJ fans would not buy any release on Joe's new label!

interesting culturally how some (not all, of course) of these people use this site as a chat room, rather than simply a thoughtful sharing of comments, etc.---maybe they don't have a life, are on trust funds , ssi, or another dole-----------maybe they can find useful work in the new economy-----plenty needing to be done------

Legal question: Are reptiles eligible to be beneficiaries of an estate?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:02 AM on 06/30/2009

His will? Who cares? The guy di.ed so far in debt that, aside from what his family will ste.al via those moving vans and then claim they never "saw", the amount of claims made against his estate will outweigh any property he has (that isn't sto.len)

Yeah, but he had huge assets. Including the royalties from all of his recordings - which are selling like mad, the Neverland Ranch, all of his memorbilia and the rights to 200 unpublished songs he had written.

Think of how much that is worth.

That is not true, you need to do more research regarding Michael Jackson's finances if you have done your research please state your sources.

This is a tragedy of Greek proportions. Joe Jackson is entitled to have the worst fate bestowed upon his being: No microphone, no stage, no audience, no friend nor foe, no family. To be ignored by every person on the face of the earth. He deserves no less.

His song ownership which includes many Beatles songs are worth far more than his debt.

Michael Jackson own song rights including the beatles are worth at least a Billion so yes there will be money to pay off his debts.

I heard this morning his album sales are 80x what they were before he died. Michael will go through a Lennonization or Elvisization with his death. There has been a new life brought to his music.

Part of his assets include a catalog of about 200 as yet unpublished songs that he apparently left for his kids. Those will generate revenue for many years to come.

When Elvis Presley died, his estate wasn't worth a whole lot but since his death his estate has grown considerably as we all know.

There's no reason to believe MJ's estate would be any different. They will pay oft the debt and the revenue stream will continue for many years. Now, if Joe Jackson gets his hands on it and squanders it, then who knows what will happen. It doesn't look as if Katherine Jackson is strong enough to get rid of him so........

Don't we ever get sick of toxic tabloidism here? Or is it now an endemic disease in our culture of superficiality?

This is a human interest story. If anything it serves as cautionary lesson of parents pushing there children into the spotlight of celebrity at an early age. I can't think of one example where the outcome was positive.

This is clearly a Pavlovian response to the words "Michael Jackson". NO. His death is NOT a tabloid story. It is of national interest because Michael Jackson, like Elvis, Sinatra and Lennon, represented a part of our national identity for a long period of time.

I don’t see how anyone in their right minds defends a man plugging his new record label on BET and elsewhere before his son is even cold, not even close to buried. Joe is a leach, an opportunist who is far from grieving but relishing in his new found attention. He’s putting off burying Michael to prolong this ordeal.

I agree. And if the reports are true about him bru_talizing his children when he was training them, be_ating them if they so much as sang off-key, it's no wonder Michael didn't leave him anything...and I'm glad.

I agree, Joe has not shown any sorrow about Michael's death. He tried to plug HIS music company in two interviews about Michael. When is the funeral? This is sadly turning out to be a lot like Anna Nicole's death.

Is the statute of limitations up for his child abuse crimes against Michael? Can he still be charged?

I'd like to see that.

I totally agree. I was particularly disgusted at the smile he gave to the camera while he had someone read a prepared statement. He caught himself as if he had to remember that smiling at the camera may be an inappropriate response to the sudden death of your son.
