Prison Michael Jackson Tribtue

More than 1,500 CPDRC inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Cebu, Philippines, first gained international fame when the video of them re-enacting Michael Jackson's epic "Thriller" video stormed YouTube, getting over 20 million views. Now that their inspiration, the King of Pop, has passed away, the prisoners filmed a tribute to him (dated June 27th), a choreographed dance routine to Jackson songs "Ben" and "I'll Be There."

Watch the tribute dance below, and if you haven't seen their "Thriller" re-enactment, then be sure to watch it afterward (or before!). "Thriller" is the second video.

I think I see Bernie Madoff in there.

Somehow I don't see the Bloods and the Crips at San Quentin doing this.

What a waste of time and energy. Shouldn't these prisoners be making someting or cleaning the streets?

I wonder if the North Koreans are staging something like this. They could easily do a 100 000-people thriller, arirang-style.

Talk about "togetherness"...and prison uprising. This demonstrates what can be achieved when we all work together, towards a common goal of unity in a global sense.

Both videos just gave me goosebumps..that these guys put so much into the dance. For some reason, it makes me feel sad for losing MJ and these men in prison. Just a sad day so far.

Always loved the original Thriller one--the guy in the pink halter top just cracks me up! But brilliant that they could dance so well.

Wish they would have used some of the faster songs for the new tribute. Those were always my favorites, and I love the dancing. Probably takes longer to put something like that together, though.

The "prison thriller" was NOT done after MJ's death, it was filmed for the 25th anniversary of Thriller.

Here's another nice one made by some French students:

I don't think it's weird at all. Most people underestimate or have no idea of the kind of following Jackson had worldwide. Unfortunately, people in the U.S. gave him a really hard time - unfairly, I might add.

The rest of the world however, never stopped loving and appreciating him.
