The American companies who buy these cheap, shoddy, and often dangerous products from China are ultimately reponsible for what gets sold to US consumers with their "brand" on it. Improve your quality control or face the legal consequences. (Obviously, it appears to be cheaper to face the legal consequences.)

The US companies who are having these goods manufactured for slave labor prices in China are responsible for the results. The Chinese aren't bound by our laws but those who sell the products in this country are.

American consumers want cheap. You get what you want. Shout all you want about outsourcing and quality control, blah, blah, blah. You want cheap............. live with it. As consumers WE are a big part of the problem.

If you want high quality, safety assurance and jobs in America you need to ask yourself are you willing to pay for it. I have spent all of my working life in consumer product industries. I have seen the change over the last 35 years. The fact is most folks have no idea what a quality product is or what it costs to make.

You can't have a Rolls Royce at a Volkswagon price. Its as simple as the square peg in the round hole. It just doesn't happen. So pay up or stop whinning. You get what you pay for.........................

what a bizarre sense of justice you have. The chinese purposefully use toxic, cheap products. They sell cheap and make huge profits. Even if what you say is true, which it is not... the loss of some profit to them hardly makes up to the damage done to the consumer. Now when a vendor in china gets in "trouble" from a recall, they simply rebrand themselves. Much like AIG.. or should I say AIU did. The consumer is never made right.

They use the materials which the US companies, who are having the goods manufactured, order.

Apple Products are Made in China too, but they probably order better quality, than Wal-Mart.

You get what you pay for.

Look, if we think it's difficult to police our products for dangerous chemicals or designs, imagine what's it like in a country like China with more than a billion people.

Punishments are rare, but they're much more severe than over here. A white collar crime in the US that might get a company a small fine that doesn't hurt their bottom line, in China often warrants a CEO getting dragged off to a public stadium for a bullet in the back of the head and their organs donated to sick people in the US who happen to have decent health insurance.

The US could save so much money if they adopted China's legal system.

Don't forget that they also used to charge the family for a refund for the execution costs (meaning the bullett).

In the U.S. the company usually "settles" out of court with a fine, not admitting any guilt and paying no real price, no matter how many or how much people are affected.

The individuals who perpetrated the crime are NEVER punished.

Thus, is the legalized crime of corporations.

their products were recalled. their buyers immediately canceled orders. some buyers look for alternate vendors temporarily. others leave them altogether. they have no choice but to spend the money to correct their problems. i would hardly say they didn't pay a price.
