Ron Christie Slams Mark Sanford: "Disgrace" Who Should Resign (VIDEO)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 7/30/09 Updated: 5/25/11

GOP strategist, and former Special Assistant to President Bush, Ron Christie appeared on "The Ed Shultz Show" tonight and slammed disgraced South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, calling him a "disgrace" and saying he should resign:

I think it's a disgrace for a politician, be they Republican or Democrat, to betray the public trust. This is a man who left the country for five days. He's the chief executive of the state; he's in charge of the Army National Guard. I think it's a disgrace. I think more people, my mother is a constituent, she lives in South Carolina, and she is beside herself as to why this man remains in office.

Shultz seemed unprepared for the forceful nature of Christie's condemnation, but said "obviously" I agree with you. Christie also agreed with Shultz that the GOP would be better off urging Sanford to resign than talking about the power of redemption as a reason for Sanford to serve out the rest of his term as governor.

Having affairs in the in thing to do. That is why they trash Obama when he takes his wife out on dates and shows affection towards her as he always has.

Luke 16:18
Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. (So Says Jesus)

Lev 20:10
And the man that committeth adultery with [another] man's wife, [even he] that committeth adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

This is only the 2nd time I have EVER agreed with Mr. Christie. I am generally reduced to screaming at the tee vee machine if he happens across the screen. Glad we can agree on something. Does this mean I am bipartisan? ROFLMAO : )

I am so glad to make the acquaintance of someone else who feels the same as I do about Christie!! Last summer and fall, it seemed he was the only Rethgulican "spokesperson" that MSNBC ever had on to defend the McBush-Palin ticket, and he was so MEANLY partisan, and so blind to the faults of Palin and McBush, that I got to where I turned him off immediately, fearing greatly that he would actually convince someone! I guess he's got a mean streak in the "morals" department,too...nothing else explains his attacking a fellow Rethuglican.

Spitzer resigned as governor of NY because of the outrage of his behavior.
He employed prostitutes and lied. End of his career.
Why is Sanford any different.

Of course they can't be held responsible, Jesus made them do it.

Sanford is a Christian and Spitzer may not be, I don't know.

The GOP knows that their leaders will screw...up but they also know that if you continue to say I'm a Christian, the brainwashed followers will forgive him.

Loathe christie, he is a zombie for the right. On this and probably only this comment I agree with him. LOVE the Ed Show!

When, not if, Ron Christie ever attempts to put his hands on Your Sanford, tell your parents right away !

Love the Ed Show!

What Dem. Todd Rutherford said is correct, he left the state and didn't even tell where he was.
Anyone who leaves their job for 5 days would be fired.

The Repubs of South Carolina, need to step up and say either resign or stay. But, if they let him off hook, don't say that their for family values the next time someone on the left makes the same mistake.

Interesting that Ron Christie came out that hard on Sanford. Maybe, his mom made him do it.

I would expect Ron Christie to say this...he is so damned self righteous and I don't know who feeds him his daily food..he is absolutely hard to take. I can't listen when he is on. Never a critical creative thought. NEVER.

I don't care the Gov. Sanford had an affair. Him leaving the country with no one in charge of South Carolina is a HUGE problem.

I would be yelling for my Gov. to resign if Charlie Crist did that.
07:05 AM on 06/30/2009
Yelling at him to resign? Get real, we'd be stringing him up!

The cheating is not the issue! Why in the world can't you guys see that? It has NOTHING to do with sex or sex outside his marriage or anything like that. It's the fact that he left his state without leadership for FIVE FU*&^&ING DAYS!!! Get a clue.
