Sanford Women: Article Alludes To Multiple Affairs (UPDATED)

UPDATE 6/30: South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford has admitted that he 'crossed lines' with women other than mistress, but never had sex with them. From the AP:

The governor says he "never crossed the ultimate line" with anyone but Maria Belen Chapur, the Argentine at the center of a scandal that has derailed Sanford's once-promising political career.

During an emotional interview at his Statehouse office with The Associated Press on Tuesday, Sanford said Chapur is his soul mate but he's trying to fall back in love with his wife.

He says that during the other encounters he "let his guard down" with some physical contact but "didn't cross the sex line." He wouldn't go into detail.

Sanford said the casual encounters happened outside the U.S. while he was married but before he met Chapur.

Maria Chapur has admitted to being South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's mistress. But is she the only one?

Libby Spencer, a blogger at the Detroit News, points out that Sunday's article in The State describing how the affair blew up alluded to multiple affairs.

A reporter called a Sanford staffer, saying the paper had e-mails that outlined an affair between the governor and Maria. Unless Sanford would address the issue privately, The State would have no choice but to ask him -- with TV crews filming -- if he knew Maria at his press conference that afternoon.

The names of two other women tumbled into the newsroom. [...]

And more names of women were coming in over the transom. The total was at three and counting.

"Women?!" [Former Sanford Chief of Staff Tom] Davis responded, sounding incredulous. "Women?!"

The article does not elaborate on the other women.

This is all about the hypocrisy of impeaching someone for the same thing- lying and infidelity. I personally do not care what the guy did or with how many.

Oh! The ramifications.

--Sanford is a Repub greedy little man who wants his $$$$ for ALL of his term.

--Sanford and his Lt. Gov. Bauer had/have eyes on the US Senate seat held by Jim DeMint. This is because DeMint is a Gomer Pyle kind of guy reminiscent of Joe the Plumber and Joe's IQ. They both view DeMint as vulnerable. I think both men dream of the White House via DeMint's US Senate seat. Narcissism still runs rampant in Columbia.

--Sanford and friends regard the SC public as malleable. All you have to do with the beady-eyed, pointed heads of the bible-thumping, born again voters of SC is to allow tears to flow down your face as you exclaim "I am been unfaithful to my wife." Do that, and mention you that are undergoing marital counseling with a layman from your church named Cubby (note the slick trick of transference of his problem to another), and all is forgiven.

--Now that it appears there is a chance of other lovers coming out of the mahogany woodwork, Sanford may have to admit "I have siiiiiiiii­iiiinnnnnn­ed," again. Surely, additional tears and marital counseling with Cubby will assuage the SC public.

--And, his most recent ploy (yesterday) is to state that his resignation will cause undue administrative "problems.­" Therefore, SC voters, to save yourselves "problems," you should simply allow him to stay in office as if absolutely nothing has ever happened.

This amazing plot thickens daily.

This guy met his match with Chapur. It was her other, younger boyfriend who spilled the beans on Sanford. No honor among the unfaithful, apparenlty.

You're right about that, friend. The blatant 'Conspiracy' doesn't yet have a name, a label, or a title, but it is truly a Fact of Life. Of course, with The Federalist Society covering their Aye-Ess-Esses they have very little to worry about. Exposure will probably involve some liberal millionaire posting a multi-million dollar reward for information 'leading to the arrest', etc. It shouldn't take long for one of the greedy GOP bas.t.a.r.­d.s to sell out the rest of them. And it's there, too, without a doubt!

I hope a real friend to Sanford will steer him in the direction of professional help-not the phony marriage counselor guy, or the C street enablers-but a trained psychologist. There is real pathology evident in the 'apology email' and somebody needs to step up and help him. It isn't fair to him or his family to allow this to continue.
