Air New Zealand's 'Naked' Ad Campaign

In its latest ad campaign, Air New Zealand has given new meaning to the overused business cliche "transparency." The struggling Kiwi airliner has decided to emphasize that, unlike its competitors, it has nothing to hide. Well, literally...

In the below video, extremely fit Air New Zealand employees draw raised eyebrows from travelers as they appear in body paint made to look like uniforms.

Starting Monday, the New York Times reports, Air New Zealand passengers will begin seeing similar clips in their pre-flight safety videos.

I think this is hilarious. There is nothing better than tongue-in-cheek advertising. In America, it's rare we get to see anything like this because our media seems to be limited to mildly boring content. Why not have something that brings a smile, and causes controversy? Isn't that the point of a commercial really in the first place?

I loved it, especially the ending -- "I love a man in uniform." LOL!

Seriously, I had the good fortune to win a trip to New Zealand last year, and this was the airline I took. Great service, generous food and drink, lots of movies to choose from (including films with Kiwi connections, such as LOTR). The seats in coach are no fun to sleep in, but that's no different from anywhere else. I highly recommend taking this airline if you're going to NZ, and I'm sorry to hear that it's struggling.

You can't go wrong. The people of New Zealand are terrific. The ocean is "everywhere". The cities are beautiful and interesting, the terrain majestic..­. superlatives fall short... Really, you can drop me on almost any spot of either island and I would be thrilled. I am more familiar with the North Island and my 7th trip is coming up next January.

All of the airline employees; their uniforms are painted on (although so-called "no-no parts" are generally covered by suitcases, push carts, etc.).
