I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In its latest ad campaign, Air New Zealand has given new meaning to the overused business cliche "transparency." The struggling Kiwi airliner has decided to emphasize that, unlike its competitors, it has nothing to hide. Well, literally...

In the below video, extremely fit Air New Zealand employees draw raised eyebrows from travelers as they appear in body paint made to look like uniforms.

Starting Monday, the New York Times reports, Air New Zealand passengers will begin seeing similar clips in their pre-flight safety videos.

I don't know about anyone else, but I could barely tell that the uniforms were painted on. And even knowing, who cares? This commercial could air on television in the US at any given time of the day and most people wouldnt even notice it.

So I certainly don't understand how people are saying that it is tasteless or anything of the sort? You certainly see more exposure and trashiness in a Victoria Secret commercial.

The music was catchy. Everybody in the video enjoyed themselves - there were some really nice, coy smiles. And it had surpirses. Geez, if you can't enjoy this, what can you enjoy? Violence, anger, fear, gore or lists of drug side effects?

Seems a little ridiculous, but it's their show.
Heres hoping the darn pilots keep their darn eyes on the sky.

Quirky enough to get world wide attention on Huffingtonpost. But, will it fly?

That short of cheekiness is something very unappealing to me. I have no interest in seeing as many people naked as possible. There are many nice things about distance and boundaries between people. In addition, most people look much better with their clothes on. That certainly makes me not want to fly with Air New Zealand. It is funny how advertisements often make their products and services so unappealing.

Take a look at their new Boeing 737 safety video. I don't know about you, but I like everything regarding aircraft safety taken very seriously, especially in light of the airplane crashes of late. Nudity is not something I want to see in a flight safety video. There is a time a place for everything. A flight safety video at a serious airline is not the place for nudity. It is not like one cannot find enough naked people on the internet doing all sorts of possible things these days anyway. Here is the safety video:

Yesterday on the burqa/chador/hijab post I was against the practice of such body coverings. This is the complete opposite problem. These people's bodies in these videos are not even (that) appealing. Please put the clothes back on!

Forget about the (not much) titilation. Its a really awful ad.
The line "Our crew have nothing to hide". Its like saysing "Our crew have an alibi". You immediately think "What were they accused of? Why do they feel the need to protest their innocence?"

I disagree. I think it's hilarious.

Nobody will ever forget it, and that's the basis on which ads are measured, NOT increased ticket sales.

You really need to know the background...

Over here it's common for airlines to spring hidden costs on passengers that they didn't know they need to pay up until the last minute. Air NZ are saying they have nothing to hide because all of the costs are included in what you pay when you first book your ticket.

at least this clip showed many men who had nice bods. In the US we would only see women and maybe one ugly guy.

cool.

And no doubt they'd be attacked by fat acceptance groups for putting fit people in the ad. If this ran in the US, they'd have to have a bunch of corpulent fatties in the ad.

Jumbo jet, indeed.

I am what *you* would call a republican, most of my friends are republican, and we all think the commercial is awesome.

So essentially, you comment is pointless. Not everything is political, j e r k.

So when are you and your friends going to apologize for Bush and Cheney, and torture, and war and deaths of thousands of innocent people. Oh, and the economy and the increase of the wealthy and the increase of the poor and bigotry and hypocrisy and the loss of our reputation in the world. Wow, in just eight years. You Repubs are remarkable and, well, soulless. And that explains Palin as one of your best candidates for 2012.
