Craig Boswell, Fox News Reporter, Injured In Hit And Run Outside Jackson Family Compound (VIDEO)

Fox News reporter Craig Boswell was injured in a hit and run late Monday night outside the Jackson family compound in Encino, California.

The accident, which occurred around 10PM local time, occurred approximately 100 yards south of the Jackson family home, MyFoxLA reports.

Boswell was struck in the foot by a woman speeding through the neighborhood in a gold Toyota Corolla, the report said.

The Huffington Post has learned that Boswell was hit while doing his live shots and was taken to Encino Hospital, where initial reports indicated little more than bruising and scrapes. Since then, however, x-rays have shown broken bones in Boswell's foot and he is being flown back to Washington, DC this morning, where he'll undergo surgery necessary to repair the damage.

Boswell is a reporter for Fox NewsEdge, which provides news for Fox affiliates around the country.

I live in Encino, a couple of blocks from the Jackson place. It's been a zoo. Parents with their kids in strollers, like they're out trick-or-treating. I'm sure there are people whose sincere intention is to pay some kind of tribute, but most of them seem like looky-loos or just people looking for something to do. On top of that we've got the news helicopters and helos rented by paparazzi hovering overhead at all hours. MJ was surrounded by leeches and parasites most of his life; wouldn't be nice if they could stop, now that they've killed him?

I blame a lot of it on Tom Sneddon (former DA for Santa Barbara County) and former Sherriff, Jim Thomas. These 2 brought on the disgraceful accusations & subsequent trial, which I don't think MJ ever recovered from. Thank god, the jurors were smart enough to see through the BS. Newsmen (and women) AREN'T NEWS. If you cover the news you're outside of the bubble, i.e. you cannot be news no matter what happens to you . . . unless you're FOX. FOX doesn't report the news, the people who stand in front of their cameras with mikes in hand are not reporters, i.e. they're fair game when it comes to "becoming" news.

Hit and run accidents happen everyday. The victim just happened to be a news reporter this time so it is in the news. While they're at it, it would be more constructive if the media to did full report on how people consistently underestimate the risk of getting hurt by cars while having irrational fears of public transportation. Maybe then we will have more support for the kind of public transportation infrastructure that the rest of the industrialized world has.
