Dance Your Ass Off

"Dance Your Ass Off," Oxygen's new dance/weight loss competition show, set a network record Monday night when it debuted to an average of 1.3 million total viewers. That's the largest audience ever for a series premiere on Oxygen and a 249% increase over the network's previous four Mondays' average.

"Dance Your Ass Off" is hosted by "Hairspray" star Marissa Jaret Winokur and features "talented full-figured contestants who struggle with their weight and through dancing unleash their inner thin." The contestant who scores the lowest combined dance and weight loss score is eliminated each week.

The show performed equally strong in Oxygen's key demos, averaging 614,000 Adults 18-49, 432,000 Women 18-49, and 173,000 Women 18-34 viewers.

smart concept. i have a lot of respect for the contestants, it takes a lot of confidence to go out there and just let it all hang out. they all seem to be pretty good dancers. i would tune into this before i would "dancing with the stars"

These folks are willing to step up to the plate, lose the weight, and dance on national TV. More power to them. If one is bothered by watching this or embarrassed, then there is self-esteem issue that needs to be addressed. This is about them, not you.

More shameful exploitation from cable. Disturbing.

I don't agree at all. I think it takes allot of guts to do what they agreed to do. The knew what was being asked of them. As, a person was obese and isn't anymore. I wish they'rd been something like this out there when I was struggleing.

Well, I hope they lose the weight they desire. They are willing to do the show so hopefully their presence will change people's ideas of beauty, fitness, and health.

As much as it is tempting to deride obese people. It is good they come out. By shunning them-only seeks to make them stay at home and gain weight instead of actively losing weight. Good for them. However there are a few select obese people that are out of touch with reality and try to make other people eat what they eat, and label others as being too skinny.

a chubby chaser is someone thats likes big people. Usually used in gay lingo, as I have never heard it spoken in the straight world.
