The democrats better not screw up. They have a chance of a lifetime here to move us into the 21st century and now they are starting to eat their own instead.

As an Independent and firm supporter of Obama, I hate to think that we will ultimately continue business as usual.

Smarten up Dems.

What do you want them to do..Many Dems who voted for Cap and Tax are loosing their seats in 2010....8 Republicans are loosing their seats...They all need to counter act this decision..maybe with Health Care..maybe with something else...This is a Capitalistic society whether you like it or not...The Free Market can supply us with the best Energy at the best price..without Tax Dollars..Obama is doing nothing but redistributing wealth (he is not creating wealth)..and the people know this...Putting more people on the government teet is going to backfire...we will loose our world Economic dominance...I doubt the people want this(I would hope no one would)

Couple of points. First the “Free Market” (and it`s far from free with all the regulations and subsidies that apply) may supply us with the cheapest energy, but the best? I don’t wish to get into an argument with a global warming disbeliever; but the free market will never include the environmental cost, including global warming, of energy alternatives.

Second I don’t believe any President can “create wealth.” But to the extent Obama`s policies create wealth and redistribute it I would prefer to what we have endured under almost 30 years of Republican trickle down economics. Let me illustrate with and admittedly simple scenario. Start with 10 people worth $1,000,000,000, 1000 people worth $500,000, and a million people worth $50,000. Let a period of Republican trickle down economics (especially the George W. Bush variation) pass at which time we have 10 people worth $2,000,000,000, a 1000 people worth $1,000,000 and a million people worth $55,000. Total wealth is now $76,000,000,000. Start with the same initial state and suppose after a period of Obama policies we have 10 people worth $1,200,000,000, a 1000 people worth $1,000,000 and a million people worth $63,000. Total wealth is still $76,000,000,000, but the distribution is much fairer and good for society.

If health care reform is passed in the suggested plans at the moment it will be worse, much worse,

Please, name one bill the president has gotten passed that was" RELATIVELY EASY"? It's funny, how everyone was writing, predicting and criticizing every big bill he was determined to get passed, but once he accomplished what all said he couldn't do, they were relatively easy?

For all those who think that the rethuglicon party is dead, realize that they

will be receiving sizable reinforcements from those blue dogs running for cover.

Does the term 'Dixiecrat' come to mind? That's how they did it back in the sixties.

As the administration continues to break campaign promises and pushes the liberal agenda, the support for Obama is starting to turn. While his personal approval remains high the approval for his policies is falling. The voters are waking up and starting to contact their representatives asking to vote against his agenda. Next year Congress should change and reverse the current downward trend.

Funny how the 'thugs can see such nonsense as reality.

Wishing does not make it so but that is a reality based concept.

2010 is not that far away

We will replace the Dems who act like Republicans

P.S. Do not respond directly under the posts of trolls who are paid by the response. The more outrageous, the more likely it's a paid plant.

This is the first time since 8 years the Democrats have to work her @ ss off, because this President is working on getting his agenda pass. However, the Dems would rather sit like the Republicants and do nothing but say no to everything. S200,000 a year to come to work and do nothing! The last 8 years, they worked only 4 days a week, and that was too much days for them, so they didn't come to work at all. They have more vacation any anybody I know, and are bought and paid for by big Business. We the people have to start demanding for change, because they don't care about us, and only care on how much monies they can obtain to remain corrupt. It's in our hands!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:30 AM on 06/30/2009

Unfortunately American politics are so corrupt that representatives can openly take bribes to legislate and vote against what is best for the country and it's citizens.

Nothing is going to change and the U.S. will remain behind other modern nations until they can clean up their government's ideology of having corporate America write and pass the laws of the land.

Early victories??? I dont know what they consider the definition of victory, but when you only end up with about 30% of your original legislation I dont call that a win. The lobbyists, corporations and special interests are winning and we are accepting the scraps of their stripped down bills.

He had a number of victories in his struggle to carry out Bush policies as well as selling his tragically misguided "stimulus package" with it's failed bipartisan efforts intact. Also he victoriously made a number of promises which have mostly fallen flat.

Rah Rah! Go Pres Go!

The democrats are divided because many have come to realize that "health care reform" cannot be done without bankrupting the country. With all of the money flowing into the pockets of the banks(who have stopped loaning money) there is none left for other programs. The banks are holding onto the money and refusing to use it to stimulate the economy. As long as the banks are allowed to freeze the economy, any from of health care reform is dead. That and the "hate politics" being used by a fraction of the democtratic party is dividing the country at a time when obama wants to get everyone running in the same direction.

The TARP plan was a product of the Bush administration. No one has even been able to trace where the money went! (Kinda like the missing pallets of cash in Iraq.)

Obama is calling for fundamental change in the direction of the country. If we fail to turn this ship around when we have a Democratic president AND a majority in both houses of Congress, we have only ourselves to blame.

What we need are representatives with the courage to do the right thing for the country, not just pander in order to be re-elected.

The Democratic party seems to be please to have become a party of "activist centrists" - not quite conservative, but not quite liberal pragmatists. The energy and health care problems facing out country will not be solved by middle of the road ideas by a party fearful of taking a bold step forward. The democratic party's revolution of 2006 and 2008 was a joke. All that really happened is that the red states elected a bunch of republicans in sheep's clothing.

I tend to agree but we'll see ..... I still have some hope he will drop the hammer right before the deadlines he set and make sure the healthcare and energy policies come out exactly as he promised during the elections.

Hopefully this "bipartisan" garbage is just for show during the process but in the end policies will be progressive reflecting the dramatic shift the country is going through.

I find them to be quite conservative based on reality. The GOP stopped being "conservative" in the '80s so if we return the left/right spectrum to the non-insanity based criteria then we see there is not liberal/progressive or even "centrist" party in America any more.

The schizophrenic nature of domestic proposals and policy making lends itself to much wariness on both sides of the aisle. Financial overhauls, healthcare reforms, cap and tax proposals, and now immigration reforms all coming within 6 months of taking office. Each proposal carrying many untold regulatory and hidden economic ramifications. The financial overhaul successes so far have added trillions to our debt and a ballooning deficit with very little to show in the way of economic recovery. The majority party feels the window of opportunity is closing rapidly. Rightly so.

Many of the Dems in congress - those blue dog dems - are really republicans in disguise. They need to be voted out and replaced by true person of democratic beliefs.

Exactly MaxBob, but passing cap and tax in the guise a climate bill is just more of what the average citizen got under Bush. We foot the bills, take on additional fees and increased prices while I see very little as far as true financial regulation or revision. Cap and Trade does one thing it sets up a new derivative instrument that can be played at the expense of the lowly.

I don't see any stimulus finding it's way down to the average citizen. I don't see our President addressing our needs I see him taking this opportunity to pass every proposal and recommendation made by big business through the SPP committee reports and nothing more. I don't view this as change at all.
