Taibbi's Goldman Sachs Rolling Stone Piece: Writer Strikes Back

After my Rolling Stone piece about Goldman, Sachs hit the newsstands last week (unfortunately the piece is not yet up on the magazine's web site, so I can't link to it yet -- but it is out in print), I started to get a lot of mail. Most of it was thoughtful and respectful criticism, although there was an amusingly large number of people writing in impassioned defense of their right, under our American system, to be ripped off by large impersonal financial companies.

GS doth protest too much -- which, you know, means you're hitting nerves and you're doing a good job. You also write articles that average people who are not part of the industry understand and this is so important.

I agree with Taibbi that every single news piece should not have to bend over backwards to tell "both sides" on an issue. That his facts are correct and he includes the tone of Goldman's responses to him is more than enough.
Good for you Matt, about time we have reporters doing some actual investigative reporting. And thank goodness for the internet so these things do not fall through the cracks when MSM ignores them.

Let’s hope this story sports some wheels. And I will agree that GS is not the only bad apple, but they are a bad apple and need to be thrown out of the bunch.
