Henry Waxman Hospitalized

WASHINGTON — Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman remained in the hospital in his home state of California on Wednesday, a day after fainting in his office.

Waxman, 69, was not feeling well Tuesday and was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for "routine testing," spokeswoman Karen Lightfoot said.

In a brief update late in the day, Waxman's staff disclosed that the congressman had fainted in his district office in California.

Waxman, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, last week finished steering climate change legislation through a close vote in the House. He had been gearing up to tackle health care later in the summer.

"Chairman Waxman did not feel well and fainted in his office," said the update from his office. "He is undergoing evaluation at Cedars-Sinai. He is feeling fine today and is in good spirits."

i want his medical insurance at his price, not a stripped-down, useless plan that costs 15K per year, cancellable as soon as I get sick. I bet he spent no time in the hospital worrying that he would have his coverage cancelled. Bet he didn't wait hours in the emergency room on the floor while his "insurance" was verified. I know he is the good guy, but THEY don't have a care in the world when they get sick.

Chairman Waxman is a Congressman (member of the House), not a Senator. We are lucky to have him and I wish him a speedy and complete recovery. I am also hoping now that Senator Byrd has been released from the hospital and is resting at his home in DC that if needed for a vote in the Senate that he will be well enough to travel to Capitol Hill to cast his vote (along with new Senator Al Franken who will be sworn in next week). Let's also wish Senator Kennedy the best so that he can be well enough to cast a deciding vote on the health care package.

Waxman is one of the good guys. He's on our side and fights for all of us to have health care every single day.

I'm sorry that Waxman is in the hospital. He is truly one of the few good politicians that we have in this country and state. With that said, how would his healthcare be and what would it cost if it wasn't being subsidized by the taxpayer like all of our government employes health care? Time that all of them had to go out on the open market and face what we do--highway robbery by a bunch of drug lords that want to keep Americans doped up so we won't really know what's going on.
