Sanford Backs Out Of Promise To Release Records

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford has backed out of a promise to release personal financial records to the media proving he did not use state money for trips to see his mistress.

A day after Sanford declared in an emotional Associated Press interview that his mistress is his soul mate, spokesman Joel Sawyer says the governor does not want to discuss personal matters in the media anymore. Sanford is providing the records to law enforcement as part of an investigation of his travel to see the Argentine woman.

Sanford agreed this week to provide the AP with proof of his payment for trips to New York and Argentina to see her.

His staff first said the records might be made available Tuesday, and then the governor's spokesman said Wednesday Sanford would not release them.

Well- he is a middle-aged man who found his emotions- much to the detriment of his family and wife and sons. He is not alone in this and we should think before we burn him at the stake. Yup- he espoused otherwise. So did Barry Goldwater in denying gay people any freedoms but in later life came to accept his own gay daughter.
Don't get me wrong. I don't cop to the agenda of conservative moralistic fundamentalsts anywhere if it hurts people who are trying to grow and be their best and develop. But- why project all pent up rage on one man who did not do anything all that different than many otthers before.
Including trying to paint a moralistic picture. We can do better than that. I do think he should resign in all honor.

Can one of these anti-gay marriage hypocrits tell us how they are the defenders of the "sanctity of marriage" when Sanford and thier lot is the leadership they offer to represent them?
These gay couples wanting to get married could teach thier adultrous and divorcing detractors a thing or two about respecting the privilage of marriage. If the anti gay marriage crowd really wants to protect the "family unit" then they would tackle thier rampant adultry and 50% divorce rate instead of men and women who have shown they know what a marriage should really represent.
