Sanford Backs Out Of Promise To Release Records

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford has backed out of a promise to release personal financial records to the media proving he did not use state money for trips to see his mistress.

A day after Sanford declared in an emotional Associated Press interview that his mistress is his soul mate, spokesman Joel Sawyer says the governor does not want to discuss personal matters in the media anymore. Sanford is providing the records to law enforcement as part of an investigation of his travel to see the Argentine woman.

Sanford agreed this week to provide the AP with proof of his payment for trips to New York and Argentina to see her.

His staff first said the records might be made available Tuesday, and then the governor's spokesman said Wednesday Sanford would not release them.

Interesting that the guy who was pouring out his soul on tv only a day ago is suddenly going private. The more the talked, the more steamy the story became. I suspect that there is a Spitzer-like paper trail showing payouts to prostitutes or hook ups on love lines with these records. By being evasive and coy now this most definately will get interesting. SC Attorney General most likely will get involved.

best known for murdering the husband of the woman he was having

Sanford and Ensign are both members of an extreme fundamentalist
religious group.

a great danger to anything within their spheres of influence.

Well, that pretty much proves the fact the this "fiscal Republican conservative christian" DID use state funds to pay for his ho-fest. When he first SAID that he would release the records, it was just a "jesture". Does Mark Sanford understand that this investigation has been referred to the AG, and they can make him hand over those records?

It just seems like we are seeing a former "high-ranking" GO-NOPER governor go into meltdown righ before our eyes.... and he is DEFINITELY not thinking with his top brain.

It does seem that Sanford is on some type of "self-propelled journey" or mission, which is SCREAMING that he wants out of the responsibilities as governor, his expected committments to the GOP, his family and most of all.... he wants out of his "phony right-wing Republican conservative christian" image and responsibilities..... in short, Mark Sanford has had a taste of rock-'em-sock-'em lovin' and he does not want to look back. Cearly Mark Sanford's heart and soul is with his Argentine mistress Maria.... and several of the other women he's "crossed the line" with.

Mark Sanford is on a collision course and in direct contrast to what's expected of him as a governor, husband, father, friend, and right-wing Republican conservative christian, and now, he's refusing to lawfully assist in his investigation.... it's CRYSTAL CLEAR that he just wants....OUT.
