Mark Levin

Right-wing talk radio firebrand Mark Levin was a guest on Sean Hannity's self-titled Fox News show and unleashed a diatribe against President Obama.

Responding to Hannity's question of why his book "Liberty and Tyranny" is doing so well, Levin lit into Obama, calling his policies "Bernie Madoff times a thousand;" Obama "is taking a wrecking ball to this;" and that Obama's ultimate goal is to "destroy the middle class."

Hannity cheers him on the whole way through (his favorite way of referring to Levin is as "The Great One"), although it's questionable if the Republican party wants Levin out there as the face of their ideology considering the man has a history of embarrassing himself and conservatism.

WATCH

Mark Levin to Hannity:

Because I think the American people are fundamentally liberty-loving people. And what's going on in this country is really anti-liberty. The President, you know, they just put Bernie Madoff away for life; the President's policies are Bernie Madoff times a thousand. He is taking a wrecking ball to this society. The American people love this country. They love its institutions; they revere the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. What the President is peddling is something utterly foreign. He's dragging us into what de Toqueville called a 'soft tyranny.' And really I don't know what the limits are on the power of the presidency anymore. They used to call Bush an imperial president, which was ridiculous, this is a real, live imperial president, who wants to dictate light bulbs to what medicines you get, to student loans and credit card interest rates. He doesn't have the constitutional authority to be doing all these things.

[...]

He lied. Matter of fact he's taken his page right out of Saul Alinsky's rules for radicals. Saul Alinsky essentially said, look, you gotta sound like you're for the middle class. You gotta sound like you're from the middle class. And then you destroy the middle class.

This just in: FOX News to merge with Fear.net. Both do the same thing in trying to scare it's viewers.

Hannity reminds me of my driving on the road from point A to point B, when all the knuckleheads that are driving to their point B tend to congregate in the same area. It's amazing that like attracts like in so many ways. Proof positive, that in our world, ignorance is not bliss, it's malignant.

Everyone with a sane mind needs to realize - and spread the word - that Fox News is this country's Al Jazerra. Not news. Propaganda.

God...as a Republican who actually believes in honest debate and loyal opposition and belives BTW that no matter who is President that debate on foreign policy and war stops at the water's edge...(wish some in the Democratic Party subscribed to that Tip O'Neill idea over the last 8 years but anyhoo)...I am appalled that these charlatans proclaim to be the voice of my beliefs and party...its shameful.

I agree. and it happens way too much on both sides. I was only a child at the time, but I have read about the relationship that Tip O'Neill and Reagan had. They could argue and debate about policy without getting personal or nasty, and then get together and compromise for what they believed was best for the country. Sadly, on both sides today, compromise is viewed as weakness or capitulation and idealism has replaced pragmatism and common sense...not to say that you cannot be passionate about your beliefs, but to lead, to actually lead, means you do not get 100% of what you want all the time because you are never 100% right all of the time. This government was meant to foster compromise, and heck, the whole system is a result of the compromise of competing interests as to the very structure of government. Alas, it only works when those with an IQ above that of an infant prone to tantrums actually heeds its call to service.

OK dude...I am against Cap and Trade (would rather see investment in nuclear and would like to see more drilling in our own country because to me, the energy issue is not so much about global warming in the present, but about national and economic security). I am against a single payer health care option and believe that vouchers would be a better alternative not just for health care but public education as well...and BTW, I do believe that health care prices are out of control and that does need to be addressed before reform can occur. That being said, just becasue I don't subscribe to everything these clowns say does not revoke my memebership in the Republican Party. Why don't you debate your ideas instead of acting like Levin and dismissing as a RINO any Republican or conservative who *gasp* dares to disagree???

zoog21, thanks for stating your views/opinions sincerely and succinctly (a refreshing change from the usual talking point rhetoric we get from Repubs who post here).

I have had no major problem with "past" Republican leadership. I may disagree with some of their stances; but semi-respected their role as the opposition party. They have their ideas on how best to govern and the Dems have their ideas on how best to govern.

IMO, the "present" Repub leadership is "lacking" and has been infiltrated by NeoCons. It appears that the Repub party is an empty shell of its former self.

They have no one but themselves to blame as they continually select, and elect, inferior candidates; George ("the Decider") Bush? Sarah ("wink wink") Palin?, Michelle Bachmann?; and then claim faux outrage when their un-suitability (?) is pointed out.

The "Party of Personal Responsibility" needs to take its own self-responsibility about what it's been doing; being in continual, delusional denial. Before correcting a problem they need to admit a problem exists; NOT stay in denial and blame others for their woes (as evidenced by the current Repub "whining" parades!).

The Liberals/Progressives point out their inadequacies (to put it bluntly) and then the Repubs get all in a huff because they're being reminded. Don't blame the critics -- blame yourselves..!

I would agree that some who are touted as the future leaders of our party are a tad bit lacking. The problem that leads to that is that the so-called base of the party only cares about certain hot button issues (thanks to Karl Rove) and those who agree on those issues are pre-ordained, to the shunning of any other type of shortfall in policy or character. By the same token, those who may disagree on certain issues are automatically disqualified. Now, this phenomenon is not limited to my party, becasue the Dems pander to their so-called liberal base as well, sometimes to the consternation of the Blue Dogs which admittedly were the base of the Democratic Party for most of the last century.

You call us crazy so instead of just throwing names out there show us how Obama is not gaining more power than any other president. Show me how he is not doing this by saying he is helping the poor. Sal Alinskys book states to show how you are helping the middle class, show how you are part of the middle class then destroy the middle class.

There is an unlying fear by the public of government taking over all US economic activity. As long as this fear persists the economy will not flourish. Also, any sector of the economy doing well lives in fear of being the target of Governmental interference. The Government is the big dog at the trough. The big dog crowds out the smaller dogs. The current Administation is steam rolling enterprise in an country that values private businesses. See the current Russia and its ologarchy private enterprise for a model of what we are becoming. The US is basically a slightly center right country being run currently from the left. This is unsustainable over a short period. The problem with socialism is that is it is basically a nobel idea that in practice simply doesn't work. Look at the Russian noble-sounding 5 year plans. Lets bitch slap the bankers and get back to running the country correctly. And correctly means no one is to big to fail- and if they are -should be broken up.

and look at the euro countries managing a higher standard of living, better democracies, and longer life expectancies. Times are different now. Europe is not struggling to overcome the costs of two world wars, while the US continues to throw money into new wars. There most certainly is a middle ground to find between capitalism and social welfare - and the US is a long ways from it.

There are great costs attached to having a portion of your population living on the street or being too ill to contribute: those costs must be factored in for a more accurate picture, if you really want to compare euro economic systems.

Europe is doing great. A stagnate economy for a decade high taxes large debt. If you did not read the EU just had an election where the tax and spend liberals where thrown out and the conservatives brought in. By the way Europe is not still trying to overcome the debt from the World Wars we, America, took care of that decades ago.

Personally, I'm glad Obama's steam roller is squishing out the form of capitalism that has devoured this country for eons. It was NOT right and was NOT meant to happen that way. The richy rich just went after the smartest of the smart to figure out new devious ways to make more money than they were allowed legally and it got way out of hand. It needed to be stopped before this country went straight to the dogs, and I'm glad it was. I thank Obama every waking minute as should every American who is tired of being squeezed out of everything we hold valuable and sacred, out lives!

"As long as the fear persists the economy will not flourish" And that is the source of the problem! The winguts don't want America to succeed, they don't want the economy to recover, they want disaster and failure for America. This is their ticket into power and that out ways any interest in the well being of America. They repeat the nonsense talking points and preach gloom and doom because their biggest fear is that something might actually get better. Contrasted with the horrible mess they made of things when in power, this would doom them. As it should be. So the ridiculous claims, the nonsensical cries of "socialism", the ignorant rants about the “danger to America” will continue. Today’s right wants the failure of America ( as they openly admit) and anyone supporting today’s GOP is either an ignorant victim of the propaganda, or a traitor of the worst kind! Either way today’s GOP is the biggest threat we have ever faced as a country.

The US Government built the middle class in this country after WWII by sending a generation to college; building homes for a generation returning from the war; starting a space program that created a thousand industries; and now the government is a bad thing in an hour of crisis?

The government still sends you to college if you serve in the Armed Forces. Obama just cut the space program especially the Mars program. Hard working Americans built those homes. So answer me this question. Why do we have a car czar when we have a Transportation Secretary? Why do we have a pay Czar when we have a Treasury Secretary? Why do we have 14 other Czars when we have the Secretaries for those positions. The answer is the Secretary has to answer to Congress and the People, the Czars do not. This is called Checks and Balances which Obama is going around.
Answer this question. What has the Stimulus stimulated? Massive job loss since it was signed only 5% spent so far but all borrowed from the Chinese. Answer this question. In economics what happens when you have run away debt in a country? Answer high inflation and high interest and a collapse of the economy. See Germany in the 1920's. Borrowed excessive amounts of money and the country collapsed this brought Hitler into power.

Seems to me like Repubs are only concerned about the national debt and borrowing from the Chinese now.

Where were you during the last 8 years of tax cuts and increased government spending that got us into debt in the first place?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:27 AM on 07/02/2009

You people are like pyromaniacs that just lit a school on fire and your watching it burn complaining that the fire department is causing water damage. No one ever said the stimulus would create a economic utopia. We are trying to minimize the damage of the failed policies of the past 20 year republican dominance of our Government. You people cry about runaway debt and spending our children’s future as if you have not already done that. Our grandchildren’s children will not be able to pay for the debt from the last 8 years alone. SO your predictions of a collapse of the economy from runway spending are accurate, you just ignore that fact that we are there right now. The stimulus is an attempt to mitigate this damage. It was never preferred or ideal situation, the people complaining the loudest now are the ones that left us little choices and certainly have no alternative solutions other than complain in a lame attempt to recover power so they can continue the policies that created this mess in the first place.

He is trying to pass 'go' and get to the front of the line, but he, like Palin, cannot compete intellectually....he can only read what is on his paper, repeats the evening soundbite borishing endlessly and cannot come up with a question to his buddy Rove, Morris, Coulter, Whoever's answer, but merely whatever is scripted (that means written Sean)on his peeps paper.

And here is the rest of the Story. Obama is gaining power for the exective branch. He has done this by appointing 16 Czars with Executive priviledge and 1.2 Trillion dollars to spend. These Czars do not answer to congress or the people only to Obama. Obama has placed Acorn with the government by giving them 11 billion to do the Census. Obama has put Americorp in the Government and gave them 8 Billion. Obama meets with the head of the Sieu, a union that has ties to Acorn, once a week.
Step two destroy the economy and take over business. You do this by spending until we are like California bankrupt. A stimulus that does not stimulate anything but government growth. A very large budget and use Tarp to take over industry, banks, and insurance companies fire CEO's and take over. Pass Heath Care reform not to help the people but to make them more dependent on government. Pass Cap and Trade to run business out of America only keep the ones the government controls.
Once the economy collapses the only thing left is a two tier society. The people who have no disposable income and the government. The government pays the people with what they do not want to keep. Our country is under attack by our government and only you can stop this but not for long. They tell you all this is to help the American People when all this is just to help themselves.
