Colbert Tells Viewers To Deny Rep. Cynthia Davis Food (VIDEO)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 8/2/09 Updated: 5/25/11

Colbert Davis

Missouri State Representative Cynthia Davis is one tough cookie. Last week she opposed subsidizing school lunches for low income children during summer months saying, "Hunger can be a positive motivator." This is excellent news considering 1 in 5 Missouri kids is living in hunger, so that state is due for a productivity boon.

Stephen Colbert tipped his hat to Rep. Davis last night, applauding her decision, but worrying that she never rose above the rank of state representative because she developed the anti-motivating habit of eating. He called on Missourians to help her by denying her food whenever possible. That should give her her edge back.

Colbert went on to wag his finger at Fox News for identifying Mark Sanford as a Democrat in their chyron. He understands that it is a natural response to assume anything bad that happens is the fault of a liberal, but agrees with Peggy Noonan that we should all be blaming one liberal in particular: Bill Clinton.

Why do Republicans exist? Are they a mutation of our species? These people can't be human.

This lady enrolled in logic 101, 'studied' retired tests from her sorority's file cabinet, showed up on test days, and withdrew on the final day with a D. Then she proceeded to read 0 books until she got caught talking out of her rearend.

But let's assume her statements have merit. As a coach of teenage athletes, wouldn't it be prudent for me to somehow give my kids cancer? That way they could perform, upon surviving their terminal illnesses, with the heart of a Lance Armstrong.

Republicans always have to find new and exciting reasons why they don't want to pay for anything or help anyone with taxpayer money except themselves and their rich friends.

I'm getting more and more tired of hearing that the middle of the "United" States is where all the real people are.

Whether it is by lack of food, education, health care, the idea is to keep the middle class in survival mode. Much easier to control that way.

It will be destroyed by hyperinflation once the banks start lending again.

Right! It is estimated that somewhere between $30 and $50 trillion dollars have been sucked out of the net worth of citizens world wide. In the U.S. alone I've seen estimates of between $11 and $15 trillion. And you think we're about to have inflation because the government is pumping a couple of trillion into the pot? Get real. We'll be very lucky if the ongoing contraction, and the DEFLATION that is currently underway, doesn't continue on its free fall trajectory.

The GOP deserves to be destroyed forever. I don't see any use for it.
09:35 AM on 07/05/2009
Agreed!

I'm in support of an ethical, rational, conservative party. In truth however the GOP is none of these things. Thinking rational conservatives exist and this country needs these folks, not the pro-ignorance leaders the GOP presently has. The GOP has been co-opted by extremists and needs to fade away.

This wingnut started out on the city of O'Fallon, Missouri's city council. She's always portrayed herself as very religious and anti-abortion. This played well in the city, and plays well in the district. This particular district in Missouri is very conservative and very religious. She has a boatload of children. Used to run a christian bookstore. I'm not sure if she still owns that. I'd love to see her *** booted out, but don't hold your breath.

I should add that the main religion in the area is Catholic. I believe that Davis is also Catholic.

CHRIST on a CRACKER - don't you people freakin READ any thing before you apespit?Do any of you have the ability to actually assess her statements? I'd love to hear valid arguments against her rather sensible positions.

"Who should be the one to pass judgment on what defines a nutritious meal? "

"What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals?... If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break."

"Why have meals at home with your loved ones if you can go to the government soup kitchen and get one for free? This could have the effect of breaking apart more families."

Yeah.. sensible positions. She's living in a fantasy world...

Sorry but I don't agree with her. There are children in this country whose parents could care less about them because of drugs, mental illness, or other issues. I believe these children should be offered nutritious meals. We are the greatest, wealthiest, more giving country in the world but she can't even support feeding a hungry child.

Sorry but she is damned in my book.

I live in Missouri and the republican majority here do not care about people. They don't care about education, they don't care about children having healthcare or being fed. All of their votes are designed to emote and appeal to dozens of wedge group voters. They have an eight seat majority but the Democrats are gaining ground. Missourians are getting fed up with this and there are many vulnerable republicans are facing democratic rivals in the next election. Are you on FaceBook?
