Highest Paid Actresses Of 2008: Jolie Vs. Aniston For #1

Forbes magazine has put out their annual Celebrity 100. In a neverending battle fit for the tabloids, the top spot for highest-paid actress was a battle between Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston.

Below is a slideshow of the top 5. Just missing out and tied at #6 with 2008 take-home salaries of $15 million were Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon.

I think they forgot to put "Over" before the word "paid".

I have always been perplexed by celebrity. In all honesty, these women are not exactly "great" actresses. Most of these people are merely overpaid kids with nothing more than an overblown ego with an overblown sense of self importance. Most of them don't even have substantial training. They just are lucky lotto winners.

Hollywood really is an upside down world.

Wow, they both had a good year, so big deal. They make totally different kinds of movies and they both do a good job in the movies they take on, so why make a competition out of it.

Jolie IS a vampire, so it makes sense that she looks like one. I think they've typecast her into one of the Twilight sequels. They even told her to accessorize with her Billy Bob blood vial.

Same hair in every movie.
Can't stop touching her hair in every movie.
Same wardrobe in every movie.
Same lighting, accent, storyline, in every movie.

Jen Aniston is nothing but a boring Rerun.

The difference is, Angelina only does 1 or 2 movies per year, whereas Jennifer Aniston has to do about 5 per year, to make the same amount of money as Angelina.

1) Aniston has not starred in "about five" movies in the last year.

2) You fail to take into consideration all of Jolene's revenues from wh&ring out her kids to the press.

Angie is a mother, so she does not do but about 1 or 2 movies per year. She has been pregnant twice and has to take out time to mother and nurture her children. She makes more money per movie than Jennifer.

On the other hand, Jen cranks out floppy movies, like popcorn. The only hits she made were movies that her co-stars were popular. She could not carry a movie on her own name, and make it a hit, to save her life.
For some reason Jennifer goes for 'quantity instead of quality'.
Also Jennifer gets residuals from FRIENDS reruns.

I've never thought about it, but I have to agree. Ms Jolie always strikes me as being totally without humor. I don't know her, don't pay that much attention to her, so I could be totally wrong, but every picture or interview I see her do, is just humorless.

I've seen plenty of pictures of Jolie giggling and laughing with other people. But substance goes farther.

I'm sorry I loved the Sex and the City series, I can watch it over and over again and laugh out loud. The movie kind of s u cked, but the show was great.

Streep's performance in Mama Mia was a new low for a talented actress. She and everybody else in this movie were completely awful. She should have paid some kind of fine for starring in that movie.

I couldn't disagree more. Put the film in context as a counter to all those smash-'em up, shoot-'em up flms, and couple that with the fact that Meryl loved making it, and it was a joyful experience for all involved. The music of Abba, whether you like or not, has a nostalgic quality to it, and the film is worth seeing if only to see Meryl sing "The Winner Takes It All" - It was the highest grossing film in Europe, ever.

I agree that SJP, Cameron Diaz and Aniston share a timbleful of talent, but look at Jolie in Girl, Interrupted, The Good Shepard and A Mighty Heart. She has range and is very powerful on screen. I know she's not as popular as some other actresses but she is talented.

never heard of them, but will check out netflix, we never can find decent movies. Although we finally watched Grand Torino last weekend, and both my husband and I loved it. It was a great movie.
