Highest Paid Actresses Of 2008: Jolie Vs. Aniston For #1

Forbes magazine has put out their annual Celebrity 100. In a neverending battle fit for the tabloids, the top spot for highest-paid actress was a battle between Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston.

Below is a slideshow of the top 5. Just missing out and tied at #6 with 2008 take-home salaries of $15 million were Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon.

I've always been a fan of Angelina, never been a fan of Jennifer. Never watched Friends. So this so-called feud the media likes to make up is so waste of time

I would still vote for Jen.
Another point about the 25M/27M tie , - the healthcare bankers get this type of money as "salaries" without any fuss or paparazzi. For example H. Edward Hanway, the CEO of Cigna Corp gets $30.16 million, or the Ronald A. Williams of Aetna at 23M/y based on 2006,2007 data. Why is that? we pay only $10 for a movie ticket, but it costs > 6K a year for "insured" person in the use while the UK, France and Canada pay only $3K/person/year.

I noticed that they are all Caucasian actresses, too. I think it will take some time for actresses of color to make it to the "Highest Paid" list. Some of the actresses on this list are very good, but salary does not determine quality of acting.

And we don't really value the people we should in our society. Meaning that nurses, teachers, and the weekly sanitation/garbage collectors do as much/more to benefit us than actors in general. We're kinda messed up that way.

Neither of these women in my opinion are accomplished actresses in the same category as Maryl Streep. Both do mostly fluff stuff...Jolie mostly action oriented and Aniston romantic comedy.

Their salaries say more about us...what we want to watch for entertainment! Not much depth in either one but hey who wants to watch Shakespeare very often.

Angelina is a good actress, is a humanitarian, shares her life with her children and she also has a good heart. I see Jennifer in the magazines and silly movies.

Angelina has to be a mom and a humanitarian because she lacks that natural girl next door quality that Jen has. Jen is part of the popular culture, on the cast of Friends, having sleepovers with Oprah, staring in all the cool movies like "He's just not that in to you", posing naked with the boys on magazine covers. Jens gets to party & have fun and be part of the popular culture and be herself because she just has a certain quality about her that Angelina wants so desperately to have.

Angelina had all that and left it in the test. She doesn't need a silly public to affirm she's great. She's moved on to much bigger and better things. Jen's okay, but I've never seen any real serious acting that deserves 25mill. If you saw her without all the glitz in public, I doubt you would notice her.

I think it's odd that I don't hear about Aniston's charity work. I see her picture on Smart Water ads and in St. Jude's commercials, but I don't hear about her giving money. And in our 24-hour news cycle, a celebrity of her popularity can't buy a coffee without it making the news!

Hollywood markets bankable actors. Obviously, Jennifer is bankable...she makes money for the industry. People who do like her go to see her movies, in droves, apparently.

You don't need to be in blockbusters as long as people in the industry know that there are certain people who are going to see your movies no matter what. That's money they can count on. A lot of people go to see JA's movies because of her personal life. Her life in tabloids make people curious about her films. So, there you go. Getting dumped by Brad Pitt probably made her America's favorite victim, and we make her feel better by watching her films. She's under no obligation to be a better actress because millions of jilted women will flock to her films.

Have you ever seen Jolean in a comedy? She did one years ago, and it was panful to watch. She just isn't funny. Aniston has done serious roles, one of them being "The Good Gir\."
