Michael Jackson Memorial Set For Tuesday

LOS ANGELES — Michael Jackson's memorial service has been set for Tuesday at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

AEG Live, which owns the Staples Center and was Jackson's promoter, called a press conference for Friday at 10 a.m. to announce details, according to a press release from the office of the Jackson family's publicist.

Randy Phillips, AEG's chief executive, said tickets would be free. He was not sure how they would be distributed.

But Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine said the Jackson family should consider delaying the public memorial to allow more time to plan. He also said the cash-strapped city can't afford to pay police overtime.

"If you can imagine 100,000 people show up and you have 20,000 capacity (at the Staples Center), there is not sufficient room. Now you have a crowd-control problem," Zine said. With the July Fourth holiday weekend "it's the worst time ... to work something out."

Yes! 30 years ago he made two amazing albums and did wonderful things before that enslaved with the Jackson 5 but, come on.
He spent the last 25 years a drug addled ,'alleged 'Ch!ld M0lester who paid his victims off.

But darkness, doesn"t like beauty to shine. It detracts so much from what it is trying to do. Create dark humanless souls of us all. To replace the radiance that was born within all of us, by God. You spoke of nothing, but love and peace. Your light through your words, and music shone so bright. You"ve brought so much too so many, but only sought pure love for yourself. Your sensitivity brought ridicule. When all you wished most of all was to be embraced and understood.
I think what personally stood out to me most of all; was your tender nature. Envy in other people mistook that for weakness, when in reality it is strength. The force of who you were was so strong. Many people wish to have that, but could never achieve it.
We are all afforded different opportunities in life. Instead of being envious, they should have rejoiced with you, in your success and life.

Amen, well said. MJ was enormously misunderstood and accused of being a criminal for not being normal.

MJ never had a real childhood, and spent a big part of his life trying to fill that gap. He was an amazing icon but also lived horrific public life, which in turn killed him.

At this point, all we should care about is celebrating his legacy and his children's well being.

Lovely. I read all this coverage about him, and wonder if he somehow perceives, in whatever after-life state he is in, how much he has been exulted in our collective earthly consciousness since he passed.

My advice is treat this the same way Princess Dianna died when too many people wanted to see the ceremony and felt they deserved a front row seat. Put a screen outside the private memorial so public can feel a part of it.
