Obama: I'm Annoyed By The "Shine Police"

WASHINGTON — Now it can be told: President Obama says one of the best-kept secrets at the White House is the pastry chef's to-die-for pie.

In an interview with The Associated Press on Thursday, Obama was asked to reveal a White House secret, and he dished about the pie.

Obama says the pastry chef makes "the best pie I have ever tasted, and that has caused big problems with Michelle and I."

The president said he and the first lady are "having to figure out how to resist ordering pie every night."

Obama also came clean about one of his pet peeves _ the "shine police." The president says that before his interviews, aides "constantly want to powder my nose and forehead, and it's never enough."

He finds that _ in his words _ "quite irritating."

I hate it too, Prez. But the alternative is to look all hot and sweaty, which is not good.

The cameras hate me. Not so much the cameras, but the lights. One time I was rushing around before appearing on camera. When I finally took my seat the camera guy said "All set, except the guest looks like he is being cooked as there is steam rising around his shoulders and it looks like smoke." LOL.

They had to take my coat off and try to cool me down before the cameras came on. They ended up keeping the camera off me until I cooled down. As I recall I was sweating because I was nervous about sweating on camera.

I don't see how these people do it. While I get hot easily, I see few people on TV exhibiting the same condition albeit one time I saw Obama looking like he was holding back the sweat. He looked steamy hot like I did that one time.

Nothing good about shiny noses or foreheads, IMHO. So put up with it Obama. The alternative is not good.

It is not just the lights, but these directors or what have you whose cameras are not intended to photograph black people, so they have black faces put on a white mask that make them look like ghosts. they need better photography. I understand from a Japanese acquaintance that it is much less a problem there because they are more accustomed to filming darker skinned people and apparently with different equipment.

In this case, "Michelle and I" is definitely incorrect, but why do you say it should be "Me and Michelle" rather than "Michelle and me"? I thought that putting the other person first was preferred when referring to oneself and another person.
