Rachel Maddow: Gone Fishin'!

Wondering where Rachel Maddow's been all week?

While Executive Producer Bill Wolff's wife Alison Stewart has filled in, Rachel's been on vacation fishing in Massachusetts.

Cape Cod's Nelson's Bait and Tackle shop reported that Rachel joined them for a trip on the fishing boat the Beth Ann last weekend, and Thursday morning she tweeted a photo with a prize catch (see below for full version).

"Have caught all fish in sea. Sorry! Ready to think politics again soon," she wrote.

Fishing like hunting is a bloody sport. I can't believe that Rachel would find joy in killing an innocent animal.

Maybe she was practicing the art of "catch and release"?

Just because you catch a fish doesn't necessarily mean you harm or kill it, if you release it back into the water alive shortly after reeling it in.

That too is a barbaric practice. The hook cuts into the flesh of the fish. There is no excuse for this cruel behavior on her part. I condemn it strongly.

I agree completely. It's that butch thing I guess. I'd rather see her in a frilly dress and some heels than wrestling an aligator just because she has to prove her testosterone level is up. nice people dont kill things either. hypocrites do, but not nice people.

Get a neck. Unless you are vegan ( and most people are not) catching your own food is pretty responsible... like raising your own chickens or cattle. Leave Rachel alone.. that is one very fine striped bass!

you've got to be kidding me right......who's to say they didn't eat the fish afterwards? If you're fishing for catch-and-release or to eat what you catch...or if you hunt to eat what you catch then there is no problem.....the problem is excessive hunting for sport.

There are people who like to occasionally catch their own food, i say more power to them.....you could argue eating processed animals is more barbaric (which obviously some vegetarians do) and there's a good philosophical debate to have regarding the subject (peter singer the most eloquent of these thinkers)

botttom line, if you don't like eating animals and/or you don't like hunting/fishing for food than that's your choice but judging Rachel by this photo is just inane

It is a Republic of California shirt, with the grizzly bear on it.
