Rachel Maddow: Gone Fishin'!

Wondering where Rachel Maddow's been all week?

While Executive Producer Bill Wolff's wife Alison Stewart has filled in, Rachel's been on vacation fishing in Massachusetts.

Cape Cod's Nelson's Bait and Tackle shop reported that Rachel joined them for a trip on the fishing boat the Beth Ann last weekend, and Thursday morning she tweeted a photo with a prize catch (see below for full version).

"Have caught all fish in sea. Sorry! Ready to think politics again soon," she wrote.

Allison Stewart is doing a great job. Its about time MSNBC had some color on at night. I think at one time the two guests she had inf ront of her were both people of color. KO and RM will put you to sleep with the same ole topics and the same ole guests night after night. They need to stop pushing their one sided agenda. Bring on people who disagree.
Allison Stewart is great. Is she getting a new show at night? I luved the two hours on MJ last night. Hopefully, she will be on tonight. Her guests were engaging. I luved MJ and want to know what is going on in that investigation.

And it's not even a big one. I would guess 18 to 22 lbs. This summer they're catching big bull Stripers all along the NE coast, some up to 55 -60 lbs. Live eels at night can yield some huge fish. Having grown up in NE and lived through the days when you couldn't find a Striper, it is good to see that the fishery was brought back to life. It took a ten year closure and strict limits, but boy was it worth it. Last time I was fishing Narraganssett Bay (RI) We pulled in nice schoolie stripers (15 -18 ") for over 2 hours. We got so tired we decided to call it a day.

As for Pacific fish, I can't say I am overly excited. Here in the Vancouver,BC area, it's all pretty much fished out. I have never lived anywhere with the number of closed areas as there are here. I am not opposed to closures if it will help the fishery, its a good thing. After growing up and fishing the NE coast , I lost interest in fishing around here. I guess one has to hit the west coast of Vancouver Island and north to catch much in these parts.
