Sanford's Book Deal Off

Yesterday, word came out that Gov. Mark Sanford had a book deal for a weighty, pre-admitting-to-crossing-lines, tome outlining his 'policy beliefs.' Hold your breath for it no longer: the deal's off.

From his publisher, Via The Page:

"Sentinel has agreed to release Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina from his contract to write a book about fiscal conservatism, which was to be called WITHIN OUR MEANS and was scheduled for publication in March 2010. This is a mutual decision. We wish Governor Sanford the best."

Sanford needs to wait so that the royalties won't enter into the divorce settlement. And forget a book on the economy -- a tale of sin will sell like crazy.

The continuous re-writes would have bankrupt the publisher. Smart move by the publisher.

The publishers probably want to wait for the happy ending - the one where Sanford decides he actually does love his wife and really wants their marriage to work. Not the one where where he's trying to fall back in love with his wife.

No way to write this book without naming names. No way to name names without increasing the liability assumed by the publisher. The book would have been tied up in court for years.

What's worse than him saying that, is the fact that his wife wants to "work on their marriage" after he said it on national TV. He told everyone the other woman was his soul mate, and Jenny thinks it's the C hri stian thing to do to give him another chance! Pathetic.

The fact is the B ible says there are two acceptable reasons for divorce -- one of them being infidelity!

It would be hurtful enough to go through this privately, but in all the newspapers? Jenny should throw him out, it will never work. I have nothing but contempt for this poor excuse for a husband and father. So he fell in love with another woman, why destroy the mother of his children by proclaiming the other woman his "soul mate"? His four sons will mature long before this clown ever will.
