That's not a video. It's still pictures, still great to see.

Video is, of course, just a series of still photographs taken in very quick succession. But, I agree, with a choppy video like this, the distinction may be worth highlighting.

Film is a series of still pictures - video is continuous.

It's definitely video. The angle changes, the smoke plume changes.

its 3 or for images morphed or disolved as the station was passing over, because it's morphed, it gives the impression of movement,

It's cool because it's a huge frickin' volcano
It's cooler because it's shot from a spacestation
And Its even a little niftier because its technically enhanced

You're a clever one. I say the same thing at movie theaters all the time, and everyone thinks I'm mad.

Let's hope the Super Volcano in Yellowstone don't let rip or global warming will be the least of our worries!

This is proof that global warming is a hoax. Don't ask me how, but I'm sure some wingnut will figure that out for us.

This wouldn't have happened if President Obama had spoken up more forcefully early on. He was probably at a Broadway show, or walking the dog with the girls, or (gasp) enjoying a sandwich with dijon mustard. Yet another tragedy occurs because of this do-nothing president and his failed policies on volcano monitoring.

Global warming is a misnomer; it is actual global climate change, which is what is happening in part to human emissions. We certainly aren't helping the situation. And really what is your big objection to changing our ways? Do you hate children?

I really hate children. That's why I drive a Hummer, and I leave a second one idling in my garage when I'm out driving my first one.

He also thinks we don't need to spend more money on education in Louisiana. Probably because lack of education will be his biggest ally in getting to the Presidency in 2012.

Gee, wizz, emberoftruth, isn't all the old-fashioned "film" and "video" just a bunch of still frames all strung up together at different speeds and frequencies? Nice shot of a lot of hot stuff hitting the cold air...

I dont mean to sound all crazy, but that cloud looked like a "mushroom" cloud. With N. Korea talking about testing it missiles should we believe our government on this?

I'm saying anything, but i'm just sayin...

At first I thought that was Rush's head. Then I woke up.
Reminded me of the line from"Day of the Locusts" from Dylan's "New Morning"

"The man standing next to me, his head was xploding.
I was prayin' the pieces wouldn't fall on me".

A great Independence day weekend to all.

Nature is incredible. It creates volcanic eruptions, and it creates organisms that build space stations with cameras from which volcanic eruptions can be dramatically captured.
