It is well known effect, red wine in moderate doses. In large wine doses pipes and heart will be still great, but kidneys suffer. In really large doses suffers brain too.

But by bad 'drinks' I means not a good red wine of course - I meant the rubbish that our sugar-addicted couch potatoes drink, starting from preschool.

I wouldn't take this too seriously yet. A similar report came out a few months ago saying the same thing about coffee and MS. Well, I drank a lot of coffee before being diagnosed with MS. So did an awful lot of other people on the MS websites. Didn't help prevent it, doesn't help to control it. Animal studies often do not correlate to humans, our nutritional needs are so different and disease processes are not the same. Now actual human studies have been done with turmeric and Alzheimer's and those are very promising. Eat your curry.

I used to be VERY into c 0ffeee. LOVED it. It made me sad to think of ever giving it up. But when something takes over your life you have to tell the truth.

I knew it lee ched the calcium from the body/bones and also lee ched biotin, which strengthens nails and hair -- among other things. It also lee ches choline, a major substance in your brain and a precursor for much hormonal balance in the body. I was taking these supplements to make up for what I knew I was doing wrong, but there is no real "patch" with supplements and supplements themselves are hard on your organs.

When I got off of c0ffeee, two things happened. I was very thirsty and needed to drink water on a regular basis. Wow. I didn't know I was dehydrated before!!! C0ffeee plays havoc on your water balance -- and your body is 90 odd % water!!! Without adequate irrigation you store to xins longer. A very import health issue. My skin now looks fabulous!

The other thing was I was less stressed/tense about things in life in general. I feel more tolerant and less critical. Without the calcium supplement, my bowels would get an A plus from Oprah and Dr. Oz.

Energy level and memory are just fine. Because now I eat better. Lots of raw living foods. I feel fabulous!

My Dad has alzheimers and probably drank more than 5 cups of coffee everyday of his life. He also did crossword puzzles and walked daily. Bottom line is that they don't know what causes alzheimers and they have no cure. The drugs given alzheimers patients just slow the process down, but in the end family has to decide when to stop giving these drugs, and let nature take its course. This is not an easy decision to make, but you have to look at the quality of life. This is a very nasty disease and I would not wish it on any family.

Why are so many people here skeptical of this study? IF it turns out to be true, wouldn't that be so much better than a new drug which likely would have tons of associated risks?

I read an article by some British researchers some time ago that claimed that coffee could lower bad cholesterol. I hope it is all true because I'm a serious coffee (and beer!) drinker.

Don't beer and coffee cancel each other out?
12:35 PM on 07/06/2009
Why would they? Both seem to have substantial health benefits, when not used to excess.

I love my coffee and I'm having a cup right now,but as with any study, I really wish the public could see who's funding the study, not just conducting it.

Then Im all set I'm having my daily cup right now. To be honest for all its warnings about caffeine coffee clears the morning fog from my brain and makes me think more clearly. So I can believe that it would help as far as reversing alzheimers.

That's good new- hey, have you seen my spoon?

Caffeine, for some people, is an extremely nasty substance.

If it is for you, you know it.

And of course, you can find "scientific research" to support just about any position. It is just another form of manipulation and disinformation.

Oh, and who are the villains disseminating this vile propaganda, and what is their agenda?

Great timing. I was needing to buy coffee sometime this week. Now, I suppose the price will increase another quarter per pound, while the "three pound can" finally is reduced to an even 2 pounds, based on this news.

So what about straight Alzheimer's?
