Others for Misrepresenting products as LOW RISK "AAA" when they were HIGH RISK!
These are both Fraud Charges that are on the Books and many will qualify as Felony Charges.

Madoff should be using a public defender, like every other broke thief.
The obvious implication of this is that Madoff still has money hidden from the government. Otherwise, how exactly is he paying his lawyer's fees?
Of course! Anything for a repeat performance of the bucks Madoff shelled out to him.
Billable hours. How droll.
Everyone is entitled to legal representation - and besides, the pay was very good and the work minimal.
So to the people who lost everything is just fine with Ira Sorkin.
The next lawyer I meet that has morals will be the first.

Popular opinion should determine one's right to retain legal representation? What a thoroughly twisted legal mind you have.
Everyone has the right to legal defense in order to remove any and all doubts that the convicted was indeed guilty. I would rather have legal representation given to the likes of Maddoff, Goering, Saddam, etc., than for anyone, no matter how evident their perceived guilt, be deprived of their right to hire and retain legal counsel of their choosing.
I have immense respect for the lawyers like Jacques Vergès that are willing to take the cases that few are willing to touch.
Okay - here's my problem with lawyers... If you know your client is guilty and you create, falsify, embellish the "facts" in order to protect him/her - my feeling is that you are just as guilty as the client. I'm not saying that this attorney did that, but I am saying is that I distrust the system because it is allowed to be done.
Uh, didn't this lawyer recommend his client plead guilty?
It just means, He would like to GET PAID TWICE!!!

Was Madoff guilty as sin? Yes. Did his actions cause untold grief directly and indirectly? Yes. But he's still a human being and entitled to due process as specified by the justice system. What sane person can justify death threats towards a man who was doing his job? It really makes me sick.
Yeah, I'll bet you would. Money talks and BS walks. There will be a toll to pay down at the end of the road. Next!
