Marion Barry Arrested Again, Charged With Stalking

WASHINGTON — Police say former Washington Mayor Marion Barry has been arrested and charged with stalking a woman.

The United States Park Police said Barry, a current D.C. Council member, was arrested Saturday in Washington after a woman flagged down an officer and complained Barry was stalking her. Barry was charged with misdemeanor stalking and released.

Barry's spokeswoman, Natalie Williams, said Sunday that the accusation was "baseless."

She says Barry plans to fight the charge and said the accuser is a 40-year-old woman Barry had helped financially.

Barry served four terms as mayor. In his third, he was videotaped in 1990 in a hotel room smoking crack cocaine in an FBI sting. He served six months in prison and in 1994 regained the mayor's office.

Let me intrude here to state that Marion Barry is, if anything, an unmitigated sleazeball, pure and simple, and should have long ago been ostracized from politics in particular and society in general. Race has been exploited too often to either excuse his behavior by claiming he's a harassed black man or to further condemn his behavior merely because he is a black man.

I would have thought (or at least hoped) that with a President Barack Obama in the White House these sort of distinctions were certainly due for a long overdue demise. Apparently I was wrong, because far from disappearing they're apparently increasing and becoming overwhelmingly distinct once again.

In addition, on one person's word, on the spot, they arrest him not with suspicion but with a charge?

The woman's name is Donna Watts, (not b**** or ho') she has dated Barry for one year and she claims that the Park Police stopped him or them for a traffic violation. She claims she did not flag the police.
The court hearing is scheduled for this Thursday . Cease and desist and let's wait until the facts are in...
