It might seem like a moment just too good for the White House to pass up America's first black president, on his first trip
to sub-Saharan Africa, looking out over a sea of jubilant faces, delivering a message of friendship and hope.

Yet President Barack Obama, who would command a monumental audience nearly anywhere he spoke on the continent where he traces his ancestry, is not scheduled to deliver a speech to the general public when he visits Ghana next week.

I'm sure the right will SPIN it until they are dizzy to make Obama look bad.

I'm glad he is going to Africa and I'm sure he has his reasons why he is not giiving any speeches. But I have no doubt that rethugs are going to bring race into it.

C'mon, Obama. They don't get this kind of attention often. Clinton was such a huge draw. And, besides the Ghanaians, it is great for all the other sub-Saharan nations and the world that often feels ignored by America. Not to sound conceited like everyone loves us and just wants our attention, but they see the countries we talk to. We could blow a hole in their image if there were more Turkey and Cairo type settings, only with countries outside our direct strategic interests.
